  • George Darroch,

Someone is running for Parliament, so I thought it was time to dig up the old dub.

  • bob daktari,

its been a week of pianos for me and without wanting to alarm piano purists (is there such a thing?) for me that means rave and happy hardcore. So I found DJ Slipmatt on Soundcloud and he has a truckload of mixes from recently and back in the day

this 2013 Bestival (so would like to attend on of these) mix is a cracker - loads of classic house, rave, acid and other tracks mixed beautifully

The Joy Orbison essential mix is another cracker

and speaking of things chilly... a taste of the new Chills album via Fire Records

  • Robyn Gallagher,

Worth nothing - Katy Perry's new music video, for her song "This is How We Do", was directed by Auckland dude Joe Kefali, otherwise known as director of the "Royals" and "Tennis Court" videos for Lorde.

It's a very different style to the stark world of those videos, but the candy lol fun pop world of "This is How We Do" is perfect Katy Perry.

  • George Darroch,

    Considerably more modern this time...

I keep warming to FKA Twigs' shimmering industrial R&B.

  • Yamis,

What with The Chills earning storming live reviews on their European tour and NME running a spread on the Flying Nun heritage, it’s all quite nice.

An Oirish mate of mine is a nutter ‘Chills’ fan. He’s a bit of a muso himself, fronting a touring pop-punkish group name So Cow. Anyway’s he wrote a piece for The Chills upcoming concert in his parts: http://wearenoise.com/the-chills-in-summer-at-the-button-factory/

    – hope this works as I’m not sure how to embed things

    Hi Jean

Just drop the YouTube URL in without any tags, and it should work. Fixed this one for you.

She has been around longer than I realised, but I got a bit hooked on this alt-country… something by Haley Bonar. The album ‘Last War’, out 29th September, is being described as her break out album, and the bits I’ve heard so far are working for me. Hat tip my pal Matt J.

And this catchy number, which has a 4AD tinge to it, IYKWIM.

I'm liking the expanded reissue of the Allman Brothers Band's 1971 Fillmore East concerts. Tasty.
