  • Craig Ranapia,

It’s based on the version captured in the Stop Making Sense movie

It quite odd comparing the warm, white-funky big band gone boink live tracks with the album versions you often need to chip the ice off.

  • JacksonP,

Since you mentioned Dav'i'd Byrne, have been enjoying his collaboration with St Vincent which is getting a lot of play on bFM. Apparently there is more to come.

Dinosaur Jr. is a genuine pleasure.

Flavours of the week at the audience for me are:

Here's a Spiritualized video which I found only this morning.
A little bleakness, a little hope, as ever....

  • Ethan Tucker,

Greg Wilson’s edit of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ is an interesting beast.

Another rather special version was performed by Barry Cryer on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue recently - in 'One Song to the Tune of Another', he essayed Pyscho Killer sung to the tune of Old Man River...

Yeah but that show at Studio was appalling. He beat the songs to death. I didn't recognise 'Almost Ready' until it was almost over. But I think I said this to you in the lobby on the way out ... ;)

  • Russell Brown,

Here's a good interview with Bobby Busnach. I'm actually becoming mildly obsessed with his work.

  • Russell Brown,

And, in an interaction that speaks of the great things the internet has done to facilitate a relationship between creator and and fan, I contacted Bobby Busnach today to ask for a WAV download of his great remix of 'I Feel Love' to play at my impending 50th birthday party. He got back within the hour and, in a sweet interaction, reopened the download long enough for me to get a birthday copy. So awesome.

  • Jonathan Ganley,

Lightnin' Rod and Jimi Hendrix - Doriella Du Fontaine. I remember hearing the 'radio edit' years ago but didn't know how the story ended until yesterday, when I found the whole eight minute track on Soundcloud. From the Celluloid records website:

"The project began in late 1969 with famed producer Alan Douglas recording the unmistakable Jimi Hendrix and legendary Buddy Miles in rolling and groove-laden musical backdrop. Fast forward 4 years and Lightnin' Rod (aka Jalaluddin Mansur Nuriddin) adds in his distinctive vocal soundtrack. Rod calls it "spoagraphics" (spoken pictures) but to most listeners hear it as the roots of an early form of rap. Rhythm, spoken-word and the art of the storyteller all wrapped up into one. The two meld together to create something new and unheard in 1973 and something still sounding fresh in 2011"
