Pardon my French, but FUCK YEAH NICK CAVE. See you there...!

Remember about 10 years ago when novelty mashups were a thing? Well, they still exist. Every year a laptop owner called DJ Earworm makes a mashup of the year's top tracks. This is his one for 2014:

Also: here's something from my fave new band, Years & Years. They were nominated for the Critics' Choice Award at the 2015 BRIT Awards (the winner of which was announced yesterday, for some reason). Their sound is like electronica, '90s R&B, and pop, which is just fine by me. This is their saucy song "Take Shelter", performed live for a Critics' Choice showcase:

You lucky, lucky bastard! I too missed out on Nick Cave tickets, despite begging and pleading.
But I do have tickets to Conor Oberst at the Powerstation next March--which will be a father and daughter outing as he is my daughter's favourite musician, and he is supported by The Felice Brothers, whom I dearly love,

Flying Out/Flying Nun/Arch Hill just can’t quit the party thing. Christmas Party at the KA, featuring Tiny Ruins, Grayson Gilmour and more.

Nick Cave tickets
I managed to squeeze myself in to the Sunday show.
I'm still enjoying the latest album, and looking forward to seeing this live.

Agree with you about High Road. It is a heap of fun.

Talking of party things, any report on Lawrence Arabia's Hits of the 60's last weekend? He's doing 70's Hits tomorrow I gather. I can imagine Eno's Needle in the Camel's Eye will feature which he did at the Wunderbar last month. And wouldn't the Saints' Know Your Product be cool - he has a horn section, of sorts!
Meanwhile, Dictaphone Blues will be in party mood at the Darkroom tomorrow night with release of Mufti Day. I'm intrigued to see the red vinyl. The River Jones play support.

I was there last week and can report that a great time was had. The Zombies were my highlight - cool wiggy keys - but they also banged out Turtles Happy Together, Floyd's Arnold Lane, Flying Burrito Bros, Beatles and stuff and things.
it was jammed inside, so get there early and don't expect to be able to move.
I'd be there tomorrow but prior engagement etc and so on.also very stink news about McLagan.

The cover he did with the band (on the Chant Darling night of the albums tour at the King’s Arms this year) of the Velvet Underground’s ‘I Found a Reason’ was sensational. It literally made me cry a little bit.

Oh god, stop. I’m already going to Nick Cave. 'Know Your Product' is to be played at my funeral. You should not taunt me with such thoughts.

He was quite something on the keys that Ian McLagan. Here's a Guardian obituary. And here's but a small sample of his pedigree, right from the intro in this version of my Small Faces' fave, Tin Soldier:
The backing singer on that recording is PP Arnold. The link with McLagan and the Faces continues with PP Arnold who did the first recorded version of Cat Stevens' First Cut is the Deepest:
