I’ve noticed any attached images seem to go at the start of responses, so the reason I’ve posted the newly framed print above is because its availability was referenced here a year or so ago – thanks Russell, now to find somewhere in my house where my parents won’t dwell on the image and just what Bob is up too. In all seriousness though i like this one as it includes a lot of the early logos from the Wailers initial record store ventures – i.e Wail’n Souls Records. Now to get that Red Bull app …

And an interesting thought about Left Ear records, at least some of their releases are things that they have literally stumbled across in local record shops (and I think the new comp is of this ilk too, noting there was a NZ based collaborator). They’ve recently repressed their reissue of Leong Lau’s album ‘That Rongeng sound’ – Lau is something of a local enigma, also known as the Malaysian Elvis, and his album is also worth checking out.

That certainly was a warm recommendation!

I see he's already turned up on this French compilation.

  • Grant McDougall,

    her debut album, Personal Best.

I'm a bit baffled. Hasn't she already done at least one or two albums as Princess Chelsea on (iirc) Lil' Chief ?

  • Paul Kennedy, in reply to Grant McDougall,

No, Princess Chelsea is a different Chelsea (Chelsea Nikkel).
This Chelsea (Jade) is Chelsea Metcalf. Formerly Watercolours.

  • Simon Grigg,

That Tom Scott is truly something special, and I love the played backing, ironically not a million miles away from what his Dad was doing circa 94.

...and Graham Reid's ever excellent Elsewhere also adds to the praise - this could be the Blair Parkes release to cut through!

The (amazing) video for the track drops tomorrow – and I'm pretty sure that's his Dad in it.
