I'd wager, however, that none of them will be quite as wild as what Christchurch Art Gallery is putting on tonight to marks its 15th birthday on the current site. ...They're some groovy fuckers at that gallery.
You bet! It's a 5-piece ITV this time round - Ronnie 'Quasi' van Hout has returned for vocal duties. Christine Voice & Jackson Harry (2/3 of Colt 45) will bring some Snappery vibes to the mix.
Drop into the Ellen Melville Centre in Auckland to see some of Murray Cammick's excellent NZ Music pics. (until May 31)
For May NZ Music Month, Ellen Melville Centre presents a show of photos of local musicians by photographer Murray Cammick.
More than 250 images will be projected on to the large screen of the Helen Clark Room throughout May – many of the photos will be seen in public for the first time.
Apparently his DJ set this afternoon sparked a Noise Control call out - good on ya Murray!
Wild Wild West featuring Elliot Paerata Reid (2018)
a short surf film by Jonathan Smit,
using Blair Parkes' great 'Don't worry Baby' - Gnarly!!
More Parkes brilliance here in many mediums.
Vicki Anderson has written an interesting (and depressing) article on the NZ Concert Industry.
Yeh, pretty depressing Ian isn't it. Aside from the Horncastle Arena- which I avoid like the plague, there's really only the Theatre Royal, Aurora Centre and the Foundry bar at UoC which count as bigger venues.
For live music fans who prefer gigs, like me, at the other end of the spectrum, there normally plenty on offer each weekend. Like this one tonight at Lyttleton's Hell Fire Club Replicate! A Celebration of the Hip Priest.
About 5 bands or one-offs for the night will Extricate from the back catalogue of the Fall. Dave Mulcahy is leading the charge, Dave Imlay (Galaxy) also in the mix, some 70s/80s offerings from Marquis Myth and I believe Stu Page who's in town will take to the kit in one of them.

Here’s a Chris Knox cover he produced earlier…

Various Artists - A Tribute to The Fall - Perverted by Mark E. (ZickZack)
How did I miss that - they're great!
