Heard these Homebrew remixes from the mighty Jet Jaguar?

Ta. I've been playing the hell out of this:

Think at some point, a collection of the best remixes will need to be bundled together. Has been some absolutely fantastic ones.

    Great idea.

  • Paul Williams,

I think the Perth clip is a little off for PA? It mightn't be intended, but comes across as baiting a bloke who is probably in need of help.

  • Steve Barnes,

I actually put my ear down to the subwoofer in the lounge on Monday morning and there was pretty much nothing coming through it.

Could that be because the broadcast was in "Stereo" and not 5.1 audio and so not producing a sub-woofer signal? or does your system use a left/right mix through a low pass filter to the sub?.

I thought he seemed to be in on the joke when I watched it yesterday, but on reflection I've removed it.

It defaults to all-channel stereo. But the opening ceremony sounded great. It was really odd how technically poor the closing was.

It's not like they didn't have the right gear...

To put this into perspective, the Vista 9 in the main gallery will provide 16 line inputs, 72 line outputs, 52 mic inputs (via RELINK sharing) with 112 AES inputs and outputs (the large number of ports being the result of having so many incoming 5.1 sources).

Situated in its own room, the Vista 5 will serve as a backup gallery to the main sound control rooms (SCRs), and will act as a bypass source (in the event of the main studio suddenly needing to be put into bypass to allow a pre-record to take place). “We will use the Vista 5 to pick up the mix, freeing up the Vista 9s to mix the pre-record,” said Bridges.

Bridges also noted that a further useful feature of the Vista 9 is its ability to upmix stereo sources to 5.1 and downmix 5.1 to stereo outputs.

But then our feed was from Sky...

Furthermore, an interactive gallery (IPCR) will manage and route 24 separate streams whose destination will be the Internet, Red Button, and other platforms, such as Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media; these will be running in stereo utilising two OnAir 3000s.

So our feed would have been in "Stereo" only, no 5.1 unless they upmixed to 5.1 at this end, which I doubt.
All of this precludes operator error of course, perhaps someone just turned the bass down 'cos they had a headache.
    ;-)

  • Grant McDougall,

I saw Jed Town solo about three months ago, he was in really good form. Wore a balaclava for the first few songs, which I suppose was his way of showing support to Pussy Riot.

  • Mike O'Connell,

Brotherly love still hasn't been resolved in the case of the Kinks either - Ray and Dave Davies. I don't believe they even acknowledge each other these days. A big falling out. Proceedings at the closing ceremony could have been seriously amped up by, say, the Only Ones' classic Another Girl, Another Planet - but how many of the audience would have got that? And where were Pulp?

Everyone - it's been used for a mobile network ad in the UK for years. Just as long as they didn't get the actual band to perform it - I saw them attempt it and it's just tragic. Drugs are bad mmkay?

The only ones are gigging, here they are in 2009 doing Another Girl Another Planet

and doing "The Beast" at the Black Pool Rebellion Festival 4 August 2012 - this track is from a fans hand held cam - so the quality is limited.

I find "the Only Ones" articulate both muscially and personally - they are the genuine article (and wouldn't lip sync anything).

And they have a good base of fans who think likewise. An old friend of mine in London has followed Peter Perrett from the beginning. Which I imagine at times may have been just a tad frustrating ...

  • Hebe,

Somehow I went from the Only Ones, to John Peel's Festive Fifty to this, which is new to me, and I liked it. Mainly for the drumming. That formerly dark-and-dangerous looker in the Scotland shirt is a cautionary tale:
