But Limmy rules them all. Start with the worrying 'Requiem' video and then go to the Xylophone plaything.

Most worryingly of all, he seems to have gone legit.

If you're into scots dialect and humour, try George MacDonald Fraser's "McAuslan" stories..

...or Lewis Grassic Gibbon (well, forget the humour).

Sunset Song caused quite a stir in the villages round Laurencekirk as most of its characters were just a little too recognisable. Beautiful story though.

  • Ben Austin,

How will TNVZ ondemand work in with Youtube? I mean, I can see how basically TVNZ could pass the cost of the hosting/distribution onto Youtube, but wouldn't that be slightly funny given their recent launch of their own tech/brand? To me, that suggests either 1) On Demand is costing too much, or 2) On Demand isn't doing well and they hope to feed off Youtube's success, or 3) in TVNZ the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is negotiating

This could be really neat. If we are really lucky TVNZ will sweep clear the NZ version of Youtube of all clips of programmes they support.

  • Paul Litterick,

The Wee Man is a Ned - a Scottish subculture whose members are identifiable by their Burberry caps (always pointing upwards) and tracksuits. The bottle that the Wee Man carries is Buckfast Tonic Wine, known as the "commotion lotion."

You can learn more about Ned culture here

Or ... none of the above and TVNZ helps with infrastructure and content for the regional YouTube.

I'm actually encouraged that they realise they can't sit there and expect everyone to come to ondemand for everything. With the recent changes to Google video search, it's quite clear that if you're not on YouTube, you're not discoverable.

It is all about the content. TVNZ has the content but not the distribution. Sure OnDemand will be a key part of that strategy but that will only reach a certain audience. More distribution partners = more eyballs which = more ad revenue. Does it really matter whether you see Country Calendar on YouTube or OnDemand if TVNZ takes a cut of revenue either way?

And you may want to remain so! The beans have passed through the digestive system of a weasel, before being roasted & ground.

    Heh heh.

I may never look at an Irish coffee the same way.

  • Waitakdan,

If the idea of pure weasel coffee is too much to stomach, it's possible to get the Vietnamese imitation ("secret enzime process which produces the same effect as the animals digestive process") from http://www.trungnguyen.com.au/index.php?crn=210&rn=395&action=show_detail

  • Ben Austin,

Still seems strange to me that they'd invest in ondemand then do this. So I presume the regional youtube thing is quite new, I know for one Google has been ramping up its regional capability by some heavy recruiting across the world.

  • Jeremy Baker,

YouTube and AppleTV are soon to be linked. So Apple could get a slice of the action whether an iTunes deal goes ahead or not. Talk about positioning.
