Dr King clips
That's not a clip, that's a slam dunk. And the language...
-
The Fox guy basically just called it for Obama.
-
Odd. CNN's Battleground States Page has just zeroed itself except for 3% of indiana
-
Ah no, back now
-
CNN calls Iowa for Obama.
Indiana is looking close - 9000 votes behind. Well ahead in Florida.
12000 ahead in Virginia.
-
Damn - I have to go out now. Thanks all for your entertaining & enlightening commentary for those of us sneaking peeks while ostensibly doing work.
Bring on hometime & the cold bottle of bubbly in the fridge -
In the "battleground states":

Too excitable for fireworks - I'd probably blow something up.
And no, this isn't the biggest thread ever, but it's definitely the fastest-growing ever. As I said earlier, check the copyright thread below, which took two weeks to reach the size this one has hit in 16 hours.

From Burkeman at the Grauniad:
<quite>10.07pm: Taking stock of some of the exits: an interesting phenomenon when voters are asked (especially in Ohio) whether race was a factor in their decision. One in five said, to some degree, yes, and the majority of them voted for Obama. The rest said no, and the majority of them voted for Obama, too...</quote> -
I'm sure there's enough touch screen to go around!
Now, if you could match that up with the hologram...........
God help us all! -
Montana has yet to score
Well John, what will it be, Viagra or Vallium?
-
Is this already the site's biggest thread ever?
No, I think you'll find the one about Tony Veitch got large (around 50?) and the abortion one stretched also.

In the Senate:
Dems 43 seats Have won 15 tonight
Reps 36 seats Have won 10 tonightUndecided 10 seats
Note that there are 2 independents in the Senate who currently caucus with the Democrats. They could become important...

Texas for McCain. And Louisiana had already gone that way. Commiserations, Danielle.
-
By the way, at some stage someone is going to have to acknowledge Howard Dean in all this. His run on 2004 set out the sort of organisation the Dems would require. His 2006 management of the congressional elections proved the model. He really was/is the ground breaker and Obama has built very well on that model.
Scream for Dean.

Fox:
Sarah Palin has been the greatest boon for investigative journalism since Watergate
Witty, at least.
-
i love how fox has been criticising the "investigative journalism" done on Palin and how it hurt her. Those guys are crying into their supper.
-

Well, that's expected... sigh. But I'd be pretty stoked if Obama made significant gains percentage-wise for the Dems in either of those two states, and it looks like he might.
I have some very excited friends in the DC commuter belt in Virginia. Go blue, Virginia! Go blue!

I'm curious to what extent an Obama victory will affect the mood in NZ. I don't think it's really sunk in yet, because polls are still polls, but when (I'm feeling ready to say WHEN rather than IF now) Obama is on the news tonight, a lot of NZers will hear him for the first time, and realize just what a tectonic shift is actually happening over in the US. We can all ignore the economy (it's a rather silly talent), but Obama in the White House can't be ignored.

I'm quite liking how the NYT's Presidential Big Board somewhat resembles the health bar from Street Fighter.
