Snap, Jake.

Obama's definitely going to win. He's cheating!
According to Tim Wilson on Breakfast this morning 45 states are leaning for Obama, and 18 for McCain.
You heard it here first (unless you were watching Breakfast in which case second) Obama is creating *fake states* in order to steal their electoral college votes!!!
[oh for some news...]

Screw that - Tim Wilson, the Magritte of Electoral Math, is much more entertaining.

Today is the day America elects its first black President. Today is also the day when Craig gets to four thousand. And it couldn't have happened to two nicer guys. Who's with me?
History is now, friends.

1pm! Oh man, that's so many hundreds of minutes away...
I know! But I am comforting myself with heartwarming 'I voted and the lines were five hundred miles long at 6am!' democracy in action stories. And the most recent pics on Flickr tagged Election2008.
There is also a rather large, meanspirited part of me that wants to be able to approach Sarah Palin (and her speechwriter) and say 'you know what won this election? Community organising!' Then flip the bird at them and run away.

made it all the way to here, and i'm still chuckling at the chris rock quip.

Danielle, in case you haven't seen it, The Daily Show on community organisers.

"Today is the day America elects its first black President."
What about grandma passing away....only two days before her grandson rules the free world....c'mon jesus that's a bit premature.
..and it makes more of a mockery of race as an issue to see she's whiter than my late grandma.....he should wear a picture of her in replace of a flag pin.

You know something, Ms. D.? I'm in the mood to offer a bouqueta and a mea culpa for all the times I've been a typical Kiwi and affected a wholly unjustified position of moral superiority over the dirty Yanks.
Because would I get my arse out of bed at 5pm on a wet winter Tuesday to stand in line to vote? Frak no! Would I stand in line ALL DAY? Bite me.
And on the media tip, I'm not being snarky in saying that I feel a damn sight better informed about the election happening this week I don't get to vote in. Super-snaps with a twirl to the Anchorage Daily News that resisted becoming a booster for the home town girl, and just kept cashing the reality checks on Sarah Palin, and Palin's flat out lies, when the national MSM was pussy-whipped.
And as a Tory, my gratitude to those pundits who actually put conservatism above party and were willing to call bullshit on McCain-Palin. Could a newspaper here pick up George F. Will's column, now?

Gotta love this Palin poster: artwork available Creative Commons styles from:

I voted and the lines were five hundred miles long at 6am!
This is my only concern really - queues for hours on a workday? There'll be a bunch of people that may not vote in those circumstances and I'm uneasy as to how that may affect it.
And yes, I'm just using your "don't jinx" it stylee... =)

McCain is giving his big Colorado stump speech on CNN at the moment. His 92yr old mother is there! And she looks more mobile than him.
And that Palin poster is awesome!

RE Dixville...
It must be important. Kat-ryan on 9-noon is crossing there later...
Who dropped her the tip?

Gotta love this Palin poster
Makes you think about identity and gender politics, though, natch? Were Obama a Republican and as despicable as Palin, could you imagine such a poster? I don't think so.
It reminded me of this little number on Cindy McCain.

Gotta love this Palin poster:
WTF? :) But here's a really frightening prospect: Palin is already being described as the "presumptive Republican nominee" for 2012. My only comfort? They were saying the same thing about the junior Senator from New York for most of the last four years, and that didn't quite work out.
The clock is ticking on getting the sane, sober grown-ups back behind the wheel of the GOP...

Things I will not miss about McCain.
My friends...My Friends....My Friends. Man his facebook page must be huuuuge.
Cindy standing behind him at every rally, staring at his back, constantly thinking about when he called her a C**T.
His shoulders.

The first year I went to Glastonbury, a guy was selling, of all things, leftover Michael Dukakis campaign t-shirts -- 70p each, I think.
I wore mine in all irony till it fell apart.
Just telling a story to pass the time ...

It reminded me of this little number on Cindy McCain.
Where I saw this:
Cindy McCain Claims She’s ‘Just Like Any Other Female Human’
Captain Jack would be obliged to check that claim out I'm sure.

Where's the best place for updates online during the day?
enquiring minds! Stuck in the office!

It's not going to happen, Craig, rest easy. It's going to be a white guy.

His shoulders.
I actually have a lot of the sympathy for the man, having read up on his injuries earlier on. Dude can't raise his arms above shoulder level at all - thanks to two broken shoulders not being set at all whilst he was captive in North Vietnam - and has to have other people brush his hair and so on before he goes out in public. His right leg also got sliced in the same jet crash that broke his shoulders, hence the herky-jerky walk.
He used to hide it much better. In 2000 then-presidential candidate George Bush was impressed with McCain and reportedly asked staffers if McCain would like to work out with him at the gym. McCain's staffers explained in as polite a way as they could manage that McCain didn't and couldn't really "work out" at all; Bush was reportedly a bit mystified. They might have needed to spell it out a bit more clearly.

Of course - the 'First Dude'.

CNN has reporters in France and Kenya and behind the scene coverage of... the CNN election coverage. This is fun.

Palin after voting ...
If the embedding's not working, here.

Does anyone know if the live Daily Show coverage is going to be screened here? C4?
