He's a big cat: 7.5kg, very long legs, and his paws are twice the size of most cats paws.

He's very handsome, what an awesome-looking cat!

  • Bart Janssen,

Our cat Figaro used to love charging into brown paper shopping bags, if we left them on the floor. Unlike Maru he would then charge around at full speed, propelling himself with his back legs, until of course he found a wall. Oddly hitting a wall head first at full speed didn't seem to deter him from doing it again and again.

Losers. Go ahead, cuddle your kittens. Over here, we're busy doing battle against one of the true enemies of Man.

    Errr, make that men.

  • sallyr,

Sigh. Corgis need better pr; they suffer from association with their most famous owners. The corgi I had was a scholar and a gentleman, and like these fellows always cheerfully undeterred by poor odds.

Dude, with this kind of thing

These guys aren't cool, or probably even clever...

you risk getting your heels nipped. By a smiling ninja corgi.

Odin = new bar in feline awesomeness. How is he on the bags/boxes?

  • Jackie Clark, in reply to Joanna,

I was cynical, I must admit. "Otters holding hands?" I thought. "Must be an anthropomorphic thing, like when dogs look like they're kissing each other, where actually they are establishing nonthreateningness". But no, they drift apart, they drift together, and then "she" (is it a she? I like to think so) clutches the other's hand. No anthropomorphism there. They're genuinely holding hands. Yes, I cried at that bit.

  • webweaver,

Following on from old-school YouTube cute videos, in addition to "otters holding hands" my all-time fave has to be "the sneezing baby panda" - tell me it doesn't make you laugh and I won't believe you...

...and put me down as another one who cried today when I re-watched the otters - the bit where they come back together again set me off too. And the baby corgi one made me cry as well for some reason.

I've been resolutely not watching any news at all since last Friday - I can't handle it at the moment, it makes me too anxious - and I've been tip-toeing around Public Address for a week trying to only read posts that don't freak me out - so thank you Russell for a thread that I can be pretty sure will be safe for me to read. :)

Strangely I am now being followed by @DepeBufo for no reason I can think of other than this thread, who seems to have a blog about funny animal videos, and just posted this.

The web moves in mysterious ways.

  • Amy,

At last, a topic to which I can contribute without feeling entirely underqualified/irrelevant!

Although my pick is less 'cute' and more 'how on earth did this happen!?' - nevertheless it makes me cry with laughter every time I watch it.

  • Rob Hosking,

Corgis need better pr; they suffer from association with their most famous owners.

Had one on the farm - my sister's (it was a pet).

We'd come back from doing something down the farm, kicked our boots off and my brother decides to de-flea the corgi before we go in for afternoon tea.

Grabs the flea powder and the rag and rubs it all over the corgi, who stands there with his ears down & a pissed off expression.

As soon as my brother has finished, corgi goes over to the row of kicked-off boots, heads straight for my brother's, picks up one of the boots and shakes it in his teeth, growling.

Then he flounces off with his nose in the air.

  • Islander,

One of the sickest gifts I was ever offered - by a really lovely Californian fan who I took good care not to upset- was a sea otter throw. I had to invent a fur allergy v. quickly - but just looking at exceedingly beautiful skins from at least a dozen sea otters made me feel ill - even though they had been killed more than 80 years previously.

Must admit that cute animal pikkies normally dont do anything for me, but some of these are great! Especially the little head-on-legs - me wantodoshutup-
