Chris Finlayson is a long-term supporter and patron of the arts. He has also put his money where his mouth is, including with Patronage of the 2004 NZ International Arts Festival, and sponsoring NZSO's Principal Oboeist Robert Orr.
Maybe FrontSeat's target market is Mummy and Daddy, since most artists I know are only awake at 8am on a Saturday if they've been gigging, writing or painting all night. So it's good that we're able to watch episodes via the web site!

If it's such a good idea then I look forward to TVNZ going this way with all of its current affairs and news programmes. Perhaps One News could base itself in the offices of Investigate Magazine.
This really does reek of the same patronising approach as Kiwifruit.
I really doubt that behind the scenes at Express is so enthralling that a weekly TV show can get enough material. Maybe that's why the sudden appearance of a "young programme makers' initiative" segment - very worthy but the easiest way to get other people to make your show on the cheap.
And what is wrong with magazine shows FFS.

I've got to say I'm kinda sick of the flogging this whole smacking thing has received; sure it's important, but I think there's just too much hysteria being generated from all sides for people to get a realistic grip on the issue.
What has astounded me though, is the argument put forward by some National MP's that people such as Helen Clark aren't fit to talk about this legislation because they aren't parents; does that mean that all non-pot smokers shouldn't be involved in legislation regarding cannabis? Hmmm, wouldn't that be interesting...puff puff

Can't say that I've heard that one. But I did hear that Helen, just prior to the last election, was dead against banning smacking. Now she says she's changed her mind. I wonder how many Labour voters have changed their mind and wished they hadn't voted Labour.

Why does National have a "Family" spokesperson, given that all she ever seems to do is attack solo mums, LGBT families, opponents of parental corporal punishment of children, and otherwise pander to the hardcore Christian Right?

Oh, and here's some information on JT's brother, David...
"Double murderer David Tamihere will remain in jail for at
least another year. Tamihere was convicted in 1990 of
killing Swedish tourists Heidi Paakkonen and Urban Hoglin
and was today turned down for parole. He has a string of
other convictions including manslaughter and sexual
assault and was on bail when he murdered the young
Swedes. He was convicted despite police not finding the
couple's bodies, although Urban Hoglin's body was found
some time later. The case went all the way to the Privy
Council. Tamihere is the brother of Cabinet Minister John
Tamihere. "It should be noted that JT has always maintained that his
brother was innocent of the above crime.Craig Y
