i've a sneaking suspicion that educational levels and gender are well skewed over at kiwiblog, and *slightly* more even here.
I suspect there's a much higher incidence of rabies at kiwiblog.

Readership demographics are incredibly interesting things that are incredibly hard to get a hold of.
We managed to get a sample of Dropkicks readers and were surprised to find that a large number of them were women. And that we had a large number of non-New Zealand readers too.
I also agree with Che about the Danah Boyd theory.

It doesn't have one. It starts in a retail ghetto and ends in a residential one (I know coz I live there). That apartment block by the mower shop with the exhibitionist swimming pool is as posh as it gets, really.

you could put that down to "chain migration" onto an application. much like danah boyd's theory on hi/lo educational splits between facebook/myspace.
Yes. She also noted that the Facebook migration -- largely by white, middle-class kids -- had the effect of underlining MySpace as the more African-American networking space.

Where did they get that info from?
From the Nielsen demographic panel, which is into the thousands now, I think.
Y'all are high-earning, highly-educated influencers who use the internet heaps.
Our male-female balance is 55-45, which is actually pretty good for a blog site.
Kiwiblog, as you might expect, is 2-1 male, and Scoop, surprisingly, has slightly more female than male readers.
And yes, we're below the all-sites average for Maori readers.

heh, have you (or any of the Wellingtonians [29%] who visit here) seen the guys trying to sell CDs of their band on the streets?
They are walking around with a CD Walkman, a portable EFTPOS machine, and a pile of CDs trying to get people to have a listen and then buy a copy.
I feel like telling them to try a different marketing model.

There was a guy on Cuba Mall playing Dylan songs a moment ago. Not half bad - he had the treacle and rusty nails bit off to a T. Also, he was playing "Hard Rain" with the correct chords rather than "Blowing in the Wind" using only E's.

Cuba St used to continue down to meet Jervois Quay at about Harris St, until the Michael Fowler Centre got plonked on top of it. Not that I don't like the Fowl-house on its own terms, but it didn't exactly take urban design considerations very seriously (it relates poorly to the end of the street, to the Town Hall, but of course the eponymous mayor intended the old Town Hall to be bowled when the new one was finished).

One of the biggest mind-fucks of my first year at uni was rocking on up to the Christchurch Town Hall for the welcome-to-Canterbury ceremony whatsit and being suddenly very confused as to what city I was in.

Wonder if the blog stats asked how many blogs per person - I know my wifey is a prolific blogger with about a half-dozen on the go at any one time. Open ones, closed ones, and about three different topics. The names and platforms change as she changes focus.
Whereas I have one very neglected blogspot and a little test dabble on the Google sites (to get in early & save my name for unspecified future use...).
