  • Julian Melville,

Ouch, you really do want to hope you qualify for a free replacement. My last Mac (a G4 iBook) had the logic board go, and was going to be $1800 to repair a machine I got for $1500. That really stung, enough that I haven't gone back for another Mac yet. Maybe when Leopard arrives!

  • Simon Grigg,

in Singapore, they hang you for drugs and police officers in tight trousers cruise the parks to entrap gay men. Well, I'm not sure that happens any more, to be honest.

Mediacorp actress got caught with coke at Velvet Underground in one of those not uncommon stings at nightclubs where the whole place is searched and and a large random percentage is made to undergo on the spot testing in the vans outside. The police then take her phone book, phone, PDA and computer and haul every one in them in, her parents and grandparents included, for urine and hair tests......they still do that sort of thing

Just another klong... • Since Nov 2006 • 3284 posts Report Reply

All the time, I gather. You can be sent to jail solely on blood-test evidence. If you're a Singapore citizen, that applies even if you've indulged in another country where, say, cannabis is legal. Being Singaporean means the government owns your body.

Heh. The iMac's got a way to go before it overhauls the piece-of-crap Acer in the kids' room though. And Firewire target disk mode is a remarkably handy way to get to a hosed computer ...

Heh, I lost the system disk on the family PC last week. Relatively minor to fix and all data is on a separate disk and backed up etc... But the huge pain was from the little ones in the family, cruelly cut off from their Interweb, games, music etc... and I wasn't to be allowed a moments peace until I'd sorted it for them.

Sam's 9, I must start teaching him how to rebuild the things himself, save me the bother.

  • Neil Smart,

Forgive me for doubting you Russell:

I also took him up on his comments about peering. In New Zealand, I pointed out, the two major carriers had ceased open peering with anyone but each other, and basically broken the network.

I touught that the concept of peering had fallen on deaf ears from the tenor of your post after you attended the Auckland City Link on the subject. I should have had more faith perhaps.
Not quite up to the All black's recovery on Sunday morning or Team NZ renewed cahallenge today but close!!

  • Juha Saarinen,

So how does The iJobs pronounce Leopard? Le-oh-pahrd? He says Jagwyre...

    Sorry, Lee-oh-pard of course.

Of course. But if your house is like mine, you'll reach a point where the little scamp thinks he knows more than he really does, and things get a bit messy.
