I’m thinking the world should refrain from telling drummer jokes today.

Thank you for that clip, Joe. Brought back some fond memories of days gone by. Who will ever forget Levon’s comment in Scorses’s doco … “after 16 years on the road and playing the night before to thousands … next morning we didn’t have the price of breakfast.” (or words to that effect).

The whole of Music From Big Pink is on YouTube as one clip, if you don’t happen to be familiar with The Band and feel like a hassle-free taste.

At least things are looking up for Leonard…

Oh phooey. Death is the only way to teach a drummer the meaning of the word pianissimo.

Q: How do you know if there’s a drummer at your door? A: The knocking speeds up.

Did anyone else not know that Leonard Cohen’s daughter has had a baby with Rufus Wainwright? I just tripped over that fact when I read that linked Guardian article. Now that could be one talent to watch.

I always liked that Levon played on this. It’s such a recognisable style he had. His Daughter is on backing vox I believe too. Garth Hudson also played on the album

What is needed is Drive By Truckers to write a song about Levon, to compare with their beautiful ‘Richard Manuel’ song.
