Well poisoning is a crime which requires an intent to cause harm, but maybe a reckless disregard for evidence that a quack remedy is harmful could amount to intent?
Assault?

You’d think there might be some ground between official approval and “it’s a criminal offence to even possess this”.
Yup. It's not like there's no other approved pschoactive drugs which are currently banned to children anyway (conveniently available at the bottlo and the supermarket). We seem to be able to get our heads around kids having different rules to adults. Presumably medical pot isn't just some carte blanche prescription - there are actually guidelines around how it can be prescribed.

But Dunne's talking about false hope as a harm, not any actual harm. Just a lack of evidence of efficacy. Homeopathic remedies that are chemically indistinguishable from water would seem to be in the same category, as would endless multivitamins. But I'm almost scared to mention them in case they also get blocked, pending a double blind, and anyone even getting their placebo effect will have to just miss out.
