  • Russell Brown,

Okay, okay, the limits of scahednfreude and all.

I'll blog about something sensible tomorrow ...

  • Paul Campbell,

I too wondered about the police being unable to identify the gender of the victims ... but then I realised I do actually have a couple of geek friends who have gone through periods of rather undetermined gender .... or it could just be a case of cultural sensitivity on the police's part ("I'm not going to look under that hijab, you do it. Not me mate, we'll get into trouble, better call back to HQ and ask for instructions ....")

  • Peter Martin,

Yes ,I read that stuff from Whaleoil the other day...and on some mirror site he has set up. Kinda wondered what I had walked into.

How much time does all his posting etc take up? When does it begin to take over?

  • Jackie Clark,

"fuck me, this is a weird spell we're going through"?

No, you're not the only one to think that, Russell. People are increasingly fucked up, is my analysis of the world at the moment. I don't know if it's because people were always that way, and our increased access to more and more and more information is giving us a glimpse into peoples' fuckedupedness, or whether, in fact, shit is just more weird than it used to be.

  • Shep Cheyenne,

I thought that report about gender was really not required. But they're not people worthy of considerartion, they Iraqi.

Hilary Barry jumping up for the Sencible Sentencing Trust on TV3s recent self promoting ads is a little scary .

  • Rich of Observationz,

These people live in Auckland, right?

To quote Bill Bryson (on Los Angeles):

I think it's only right that crazy people should have their own city, but I cannot for the life of me see why a sane person would want to go there

Well, it may be as simple as the position of one of the bodies - and the nature of the crime scene - making it impossible to identify the body visually. And in this day and age, I wouldn't immediately assume that anyone with short hair and no obvious tits is, in fact, male. It is a little creepy, however, that every damn media report has to point this out along with the ethnicity of the alleged killer.

I wonder if this is the Curse of CSI striking again -- enormously fun television shows, but I have my doubts that any RW law enforcement agency could afford such surrealistically well-resourced omni-competent staff...

Yeah, I'm sure it's just some procedural thing. It just sounded freaky when I heard the bulletin.

I'll blog about something sensible tomorrow ...

As long as it is not about the Sensible Sentencing Trust. Who's for setting a Senseless Sentencing Trust?

Whaleoil and Co sound like truly AWFUL people and not worth commenting on.

Wrong Presenter, it was Carolyn Robinson.

  • Robyn Gallagher,

The funny thing is that the story WO is farting about - wannabe socialite appears to have been creative with her life story - is quite interesting in itself and certainly nothing that wouldn't normally get blogged about.

It's just the way that WO is covering it that's alarming. Perhaps he fancies himself as a Kiwi Perez Hilton?

  • davidamstalden,

Since no-one in their right mind, (I know, an increasingly shrinking proportion of the population), would even bother to read Whaleoil's blog, let alone comment on it, I wonder if you've considered the legitimacy you're conferring on his ravings by dedicating an entire post to them?

As much as I admire a freak show, surely a guy like that should best be ignored until he goes away.

  • Grant McDougall,

As long as it is not about the Sensible Sentencing Trust. Who's for setting a Senseless Sentencing Trust?

Just recently an anti-SST group was actually set up, also based in Napier. It's called "True Sensible Sentencing Trust" or some such.

  • Peter Haynes,

I am a little reluctant to bring this whaleism to the discussion, but today Slater posted:

"I bet the scumbag actually went and asked for his Mum to die so she could distract everyone from what is abundantly clear to even the most stupid of observers."

A media7 show on the bottom-dwelling wingnut right-wing bloggers would be entertaining and probably get an audience...

  • Grant McDougall,

    Cameron 'Whaleoil' Slater, self-regarding attack dog of the wingnutosphere, has become the confidant of Sunday Star Tmes gossip columnist Bridget Saunders;

Aah, now that'll explain the somewhat baffling and inane comment about a cabinet minister in her column this morning. Slater really is deluded.

They prolly are the same folk who lack the patience to hold on for the radio talk back thingy,Peter and have recourse to teh interweb.

And any Media7 show on that would be bound to show some balance and find the other side of the political blogging coin,I'm sure.* looks around*...

  • Whaleoil,

Oh how hugely funny. Russel won't link to my blog but easily links to a radical, lesbian, man hating, christian hating website.

And here was me thinking Russell was now a more moderate media spokesperson....silly me.

This post by Russell is nothing more than an attempt to avoid blogging about Labour's parlous poll ratings and Winston's nefarious funding activities.

  • Rex Widerstrom,

I asked Whaleoil (and any other "anonymous" attackers of this girl, via Kiwiblog, what exactly made her so fascinating. I got a reply, but damned if it makes it any clearer.

I'm assuming this is some former "Big Brother" contestant? A reality TV hostess? A would-be singer whose daddy (or rich boyfriend) funded a single excreable recording?

Or have we now exahusted what I thought were the endless ranks of incredibly stupid media wannabes and sunk to making people famous purely on the basis that they're not entirely what they say they are?

In that case I expect there'll be a blog devoted to every bloke who tried to pick up a girl in a bar this weekend.

OTOH, there's usually a dollar or two to be made from this empty fleeting fame I gather (they pay BB contestants to turn up to discos and just stand there, apparently). So I'd just like to mention that PhD in alien anthropology I picked up at Area 51, my Zulu nationality, and my previous life as woman.

  • Whaleoil,

Oh and about the cabinet minister comment in About Town, not guilty.....wasn't me. Of course none of you will believe that but its the truth.

  • Whaleoil,

Rex, what was fascinating was that Pork Chop gushingly wrote about her without fact checking....something she is excessively prone to do.

When the shortcomings of she who must not be named were pointed out that is when the lawyers letters started flowing. For a 23yo to start slinging lawyers letters around over repeating her own words and adding yeah right after them just makes one want to look a little closer at the stories she tells.

When you look closer well they hold as much water as a promise from Michael Cullen on tax cuts.
