Yes, I am mightily pleased that Donald was our saviour as I never understood the venom levelled against him in the past. A very good Number 10 and a thoroughly decent bloke.

If you listen to the commentary on Sky, it is stunning how their tone changed when Cruden had to go and Stevie took the field. I swear the roof damn near collapsed from the collective inward breath of the room's spectators as well.
But rumour has it that 1 point is sufficient to win a game. How come we have not ripped the team apart in the usual any-other-game-gory-detail skin stripping accompanied by the litany of abuse of the players? Oh...and the ref!
Please please NZ. Take the victory on board as a fine achievement and let the future be a little more kinder on our future heroes.
A paper mentioned that it was Don Tricker who convinced the NZRFU to resign Henry and The A Team 4 years ago, As I have said previously, I think that decision was a turning point in NZ sport and more importantly for NZ coaching.
May it become a trend.
But alas, the Hawkes Bay Rugby team has dumped their winning coach this year....apparently it is TIME for a new one. I hope this instance of such shortsightedness is the last. WAKEUP....... idiots.

Just been reading Margaret Pope's autobiography. As the PM in 1987 David Lange had no interest in rugby at all (personal or political). But rugby was still seen then as a shabby unprincipled sport tainted by the Springbok and Cavaliers tours.

Good Grief! French to be fined for crossing the line...
Maybe Klingon Key can be fined for trying to shake Richie's hand before Bernie... -

One other reason I'm very pleased we won is that we can continue the Piri Weepu hero meme without the weight of public opinion turning on him for having one bad game. Under what for any normal human being would be unbearable pressure. He, like Donald, turns out to be human after all. Who knew?

In breaking news, the Rugby hierarchy have released this press statement...

If they're going to send the infringement notice to the French captain, then they probably should make sure they don't ask a certain TV1 sideline commentator for his details.
Dear commentator guy,
Thierry Henry is a french football player. Y'know - soccer.
On the other hand, Thierry Dusautoir is captain of the French rugby team - the guy whose face you were shoving your microphone in. If he looked pissed off, it was probaby because: a) his team just lost, and b) you called him the wrong name. Twice.

Repost to the smalltalk thread...?

I think it was Ian Smith, who was being paid by SkyTV at the time. Not that it matters. That was certainly a low point in the whole commentary of the RWC.
Still, maybe Dusautoir had the last laugh, although I'm sure he'd prefer the trophy.
