“Loudon received great acclaim from the same paranoid right last year for his efforts to uncover Obama's supposed communist links. He has effectively gone global after spending years sniffing the ideological underpants of anyone anywhere left of the centre of New Zealand politics, including Greens' co-leader Russell Norman’
Okay, maybe I’m missing something here. I thought Loudon spent much of his life in Christchurch, how would he know anything about Barak Obama? Is he basing his work on Anti-Obama sites on the web? Why would anyone take him seriously?
If quality of expert quoted is an indication of quality of political argument, I think the American nutter right has hit a new low. Given this comes after the W Bush years, that is quite an achievement.

I believe David Henderson was a member of ZAP. David is the CCCs biggest beneficiary = $17Million for failed property ventures.

Suddenly the genesis of all those nutty rumours about Palin's youngest actually being her grandson becomes clear...

Seems every authoritarian self enlightenment group has schismed from scientology either directly or indirectly from some other (I'm thinking of EST and it's various descendants)
Basically scientology sucks people in by teaching them to be a bit selfish and to stand up for themselves - to everyone else it looks like they've become assholes - having lost their friends there's this new bunch of people down at the church who are just so nice to them . and so it goes .... the various self empowerment cults have mostly stolen this bit from scientology (but not the space alien and past lives stuff) which leaves them in competition for members and scientology pissed off with them
(disclaimer: I've never been part of scientology or any of these cults - but I was involved in the early Scientology vs The Net wars - on the net side and have talked to a bunch of people damaged by them)

Another ZAP disciple who left a trail of destruction: Gerald Henry.
-
And a newish ZAP backgrounder.

Snap! I just read that article in Salon this morning. And as much as I also ponder which planet these people come from I can't help feeling that they cannot be serious. I know - everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I can't for the life of me believe that these people seriously hold the opinions they claim.
Must try harder to understand.
Or not.

from which Sarah Palin herself emerges as mendacious, stupid, lazy and vain. Oh, and greedy.
In other words a mendacious sybarite?
It's unlikely that this kind of "thought" will ever gain much political purchase in New Zealand – Act remains the only viable political party weird enough to accord senior office to someone like Loudon – but it is certainly handy to be able to make the connections.
ACT ran this guy in Rotorua, I think in 2005. Jeepers.

Far out:
The Illuminati Conspiracy.
I believe this is a banking conspiracy wherein a closely knit clique of individuals and wealthy families have used the banking system to create a monopoly on the issue of new money at high interest. These monetary manipulations hide behind the innocuous aprons of the "Fractional Reserve banking system", "Globalization", "New World Order" ; the World Bank, the IMF, the US Federal Reserve Bank, and national banks everywhere. Through increased globalization and the control of our money supply, the Illuminati banking elite can control every aspect of our economic and political lives. It matters little who they are, or what they are called. What matters is that we put an end to their heinous and deadly game; and regain control of our democratic decision-making processes.
He's, er, quite a character isn't he? What I can't figure is why Act's embrace of these people is never cause for comment in the media.
-
Oh, wow. He goes there -- he actually goes there.
From Peterson's website:
A Jewish Defector Warns America: How and Why Zionists Control the US Government.
Anyone know if he's still an Act member?
-

Because a shaky grip on reality is their baseline?
-
Do you think someone could ask Rodney Hide about Petersen in Parliament?
-
It seems Peterson was on the party list in 2005, but not in 2008, so in fairness to ACT, he doesn't seem to enjoy any role in the party now.
OMG?! Do you suppose Rodney could be a Zionist-Illuminati stooge?
-
Anyone know if he's still an Act member?
ACT didn't stand anyone in Rotorua last year and he's not on any of the party lists.
It's probably worth googling all the ACT candidates prior to the next election. Back in the day if a party stood someone crazy the local paper would report on it and the rest of the media would pick it up; not so much anymore.

Good God. Kerry Bolton again. He's the man who was everywhere. Careful, Russell, you might have just pulled off a Candyman. I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if he shows up here, demanding you take your website down or else.
-
Seems others are taking swipes at Ms. Palin.
And they're now turning on him as a result. The right eats itself.

I've often asked myself the same thing.
Do you think someone could ask Rodney Hide about Petersen in Parliament?
Ibid.
A hobby horse is a steed worth keeping well fed and close at hand...this just wouldn't wash in other countries just like Lockwood's fruit picker comments/cheeky darky/etc. Cf Trent Lott. Now shoo! Back to the barn with you!

EST is not linked to Scientology and its founder Werner Erhard was critical of L Ron Hubbard. EST uses different methods. It is weird, but (unlike Scientology) it is not cynical.
-
Well scientology (and others) would differ - I used to work with one of Erhard's daughters - IMHO it's just as creepy as Scientology - but in a more buttoned down business suit sort of way

-
What country is Trevor Loudon the president of? I've forgotten.
Oh, and Peterson too.

Wi, uss guud foak from the USA nead to mayk shor that thoz if uz thut kun spel dunt let thoz who kunt git intu powwa.
LOVE the diaper guy!!!!
Obama a Nazi???? Jesus!
Ah Glen...how can they afford you.
And I told y'all last week that FOX had the best comedy / entertainment channel!!!! And Beck is the BEST.
What IS staggering is how the health plan campaign can be sidetracked sooo easily and so much stinking fish can be dragged across its way. And the media just fly with it.
I gave up on listening to "American Media" while watching the live show a few years ago with Colon Powell giving the UN every barrell over the "evidence" of WMDs in Iraq before the invasion. How they let that gang get away with it with no questions left me speechless.
Oh thats right....evolution is only a theory. And a bad one at that........
-
Thought this part of that Scientology/EST Wiki page very ironic:
Vicki Aznaran, a former top Scientology official who later sued the organization, stated: "Hubbard was very angry at Erhard's success. Nothing got under his skin worse than someone taking one or two of his courses and then running off and making some money off it and him not getting a slice of it."
In the case of Scientology, everyone from Aleister Crowley to Sigmund Freud would have a beef.
-
Careful, Russell, you might have just pulled off a Candyman.
Watch out, this sly double entendre will only enrage Bolton further ("normal Nazis don't do that sort of crap", etc).
