  • Kevin Moar,

    Graeme Edgeler

That said, I've wondered a number of times how my surname is correctly pronounced. Now some of the pronunciations I've gotten I know are wrong, but I've never even figured out how many syllables may name has, let alone where they split!

    Any suggestions?

    The 'ler' is silent.

  • Russell Brown,

Ike Finau's signs?!?! Well, some argued that free speech shouldn't be constrained by the same rules that govern the advertising of beer and cars... I'm just glad I wasn't involved in that debate.

Yeah, but my view was that if that's your perspective, you need to change the environmental bylaws, not simply ignore them. I wonder if the most viable argument for Mr Finau's abusive signage is that it's a form of Grey Lynn folk art ...

  • merc,

Can someone please post a link to the ARC and ACC environmental policy.

  • Nais,

ARC website is not returning what I hoped to find. A search on billboards retrieves nothing on policy or relating to the discussion on here. Have looked at this but cannot find anything useful.

    ACC's billboard bylaw is here.

  • Craig Ranapia,

Good, so I'm not only one who finds the ARC website user-unfriendly. I thought I was just a tech-tard. :)

  • merc,

I confess, I sent you there to suffer, as I did. The problem appears to be that there is NO Policy over arching the Environment. See Hucker is saying that outdoor is environmental pollution (cribbed no doubt from Praque), perhaps ACC and ARC need to get together and write an Environment Policy?
And if they have one, can we see it?

  • Conor Roberts,

    Back to the original topic...

Whilst I really enjoyed watching the game live and the crowd was simply fantastic and New Zealand's batting was absolutely fantastic - there are a couple of points I would like to make.

Our bowling, expect for Bond, was as you said, pretty crap.

And the Aussie’s are way under strength. They are missing half their first choice line up. Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Brett Lee and Michael Clarke are all out. This is nowhere near their top side. Admittedly the people out (except Lee) are not strike bowlers. But take the top 5 people out of our team and I wonder what would happen.

Back to our bowling. I was surprised as anyone with the inclusion of Tuffy. I would have had Chris Martin in the team.

  • Conor Roberts,

    Ok, that game was fantastic.

The Blackcaps will be unbeatable when the top order fires and the bowlers all line up.

    Bring on the cup.

  • Ian Hickling,

I've missed the heroics in the cricket, what with living over here, but I can't wait until the BCs arrive here next week. They play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and then I've scored a ticket to the final of the CWC at the newly renovated Kensington Oval for what I hope will be the final between the BCs and the Windies. Should be a cracker!
This was also the ground where the BCs won their first ever test match against the Windies in the Windies about 3 years ago. There were only about 20 Kiwis at the ground and we went out with much of the team to a local nightclub later that evening. One of the supporters (in from the UK) had a few too many and tackled Lou VIncent, and put him out of the next couple of games with a broken foot.

  • Brian Murphy,

Spotted in the ACC junk mail this week,
online version submissions are in for the billboard bylaws.

  • Riddley Walker,

my bet is on another victory for the poor advertising industry and their equally down-trodden corporate clients.
