It’s a shame that these kind of stories are so evocative of the New Zealand experience for some Jacqui.
“If that’s how it is, I don’t know if I want to live in this country any more.”
The 34-year-old also slated Tauranga MP Simon Bridges, who had labelled the singer a disgrace.

Talk about ‘thoughtcrimes’… So much for ‘PC gone mad’.

Of course, none of us was Maori on the occasion I’m talking about. And we were all female.
I know from the experiences of two of my brothers, that in those days (and I am talking quite a long time ago now) being male and a bit of a smart mouth was always going to be a problem. Highly intelligent, mouthy young “louts” (long hair, jeans, etc) could be made to toe the line, or face consequences. It was a bad time for my mother – she was bringing the tribe up alone. She got to dread the knock on the door in the middle of the night.

Speaking of “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” – it’s what they played to me on hold when I was waiting to talk to NZ Post’s parcel service recently – where’s that fedex number ….

So the whole thing, it seems, was filed out of spite.
