  • Russell Brown,

Just saw Chris. They're looking to play 20 minutes, and have been rehearsing a lot . Cool.

  • philipmatthews,

Stroke gets a 8.2 from Pitchfork. They don't fault much apart from, well ...:

It's a bit of a bummer that MOR singer Boh Runga gets Knox's beloved "Not Given Lightly", especially considering Pearl Jam covered it well on tour in New Zealand last November and could have provided this comp yet another ringer, but her heart is in the right place.

  • recordari,

The sound isn't fantastic, and video a bit bumpy, but this does sound pretty damn special.

Chris & Co were fantastic at Laneways. He did Punk vocals better than anyone I've ever heard before. Thanks Chris.

  • Richard Llewellyn,

And yes, they were very cool indeed, Chris Knox looking like all fired up in his Graham Bonnet sunnies and seemingly enjoying the hell out of himself, and Shayne Carter sporting a pretty wide grin too.

Thought Laneways a great addition to the music festival circuit - albeit with minor issues in terms of the bar queues, sound quality (unless standing directly in front of the stage) and the lack of food choice. Good mix of bands (Black Lips a particular favourite) and easy to move around the venue. Hope it comes back next year.
