Open source on tv

  • Sue,

close up does some great open source coverage.

Damien Christie asks the important questions
"is open souce the digital version of the hippy movement?"

    YUSSSS!

plus from the closeup page you can edit the interview and maybe get your version on TeeVee.

    Very tempting

  • Russell Brown,

I made the 300k version embed - if you mouse-over the image, play controls come up.

But it does just start loading. Is this too annoying? Should I change it back?

Oh, and I'm damned if I can find the link for the mashable clips from the report on the Close Up page of the inscrutable TVNZ website. Can anyone help there?

  • tim kong,

Why didn't they give a credit or a nod at least to Bruce Ferguson for the Starlords mashup - I know it wasn't the point of the article - but it would have been in order I'd have thought.

I won't post the link to the original - coz it's already hurt PA once before - unless the servers have been changed.

Nice to see something other than dog bits and hand smacks on close up as well.

  • Damian Christie,

Anyone interested (and thanks for talking about it at all), the direct link to the clips for mashing are here: http://images.tvnz.co.nz/tvnz_images/tvone/programmes/close_up/open_source_story/

(It's as clear as our often inscrutable website can be, tvnz.co.nz, keyword Close Up, then click on "Open Source challenge" and follow your nose)

Tim: I contacted Bruce directly to get a high-res version of the Star Lords trailer, which I referred to in the story as a "locally produced effort". I had intended to put a key on screen to Bruce's website, but ran out of time (and to be honest, simply forgot in the rush to get the story finished and on air). But Bruce emailed the next day saying he was stoked that it'd been played on TV, so I think he's okay...
