A reason for crime rate drops apart from efficacy of strikes could be found by looking at lead in our petrol. I shit you not. Read this. http://m.motherjones.com/environment/2013/01/lead-crime-link-gasoline
The lag between lead being removed from petrol and crime rates dropping is 20 years - the approx peak age for offending. Lead was banned here in 96 so expect to see crime dropping for another year or two and then flatten off? -
Marriage equality has come at a very convenient time for Obama and corporates pushing the TPA etc.

Around 6.45 tonight Aucklanders are gathering outside TV3 for a Campbell-Light Vigil. A final sendoff. What better way to mourn the passing of nightly current-affairs in NZ.

Wet tissue paper worked well too

Thanks for reminding me about this. A special excitement came from getting a free call, especially if you couldn't find enough 2 cent pieces or it gobbled them up because you pushed the A button thinking the call had been answered but hadn't, thereby losing your money.
It really is a world away from today and could easily be written up to sound like a certain Monty Python sketch.

Measured and correct in the face of this and the rest of the bollocks commonly known as political spin and journalism, is a tough ask.

Good on the NZ Herald. Investigative journalism is alive and kicking against the pricks.
Now it's up to the gallery staff to get in the way of the PM's 'speaking through them' and make him accountable. I wonder if any will step out of their savvy "ball game commentary", and actually take him to task for not answering questions, for spinning lines against Hager and for treating them like idiots.
Will we see Gallery reporters get angry at being ignored rather than just accept it as justifiable politics.

Can't say I agree with ANY of that but hey, there was enough other stuff to keep me happy.
Most ironic moment for me was getting sick of innocuous but clever mixing from Mr Scruff so headed up to the gypsy caravan only to hear his actual song Get a Move On being played by another Dj.
That was better. Dj sets often don't really do it.

Hard News: Haphazardly to war, in reply to
The decision was probably quickly made - but it's taken a couple of months to publicly announce it. They should've gone to parliament months ago before Sabin quit. No wonder Sabin took so long to go and Key initially denied knowledge of an assault (alleged).

I had the inner city bug too and lived in a couple of converted offices. It was fun and kind of liberating to be able to go crazy with layout, colour and party entertainment.
I often dream of having the money or influence to create a creative precinct in AK in a bunch of converted factories way out west or south - cheap rent, studios, flats, parties, cool vibe.
Probably more likely to happen in Dunedin where the rents really are cheap and the buildings are massive.
