getting rid of the stupid electorate MP rule...
...sounds like a really good idea. Anyone know the reasoning that led to the committee recommending that feature? It seems so silly.
IF we're going to have a threshold of 5% (or whatever) why should a party that wins one seat (ie, has a concentrated support base) be exempt?

fuck it... my first post last night

Well. That was the score at the time of writing
My point being that I don't think it was. My first post last wherein I mentioned the score had them at 280/6, and that came before your post with Katich still in. I was watching the cricket live (mostly) instead the election. Unless I'm just confused as all get out, which is quite possible. I can't be bothered re-reading the sequence of posts - this thread is already too long.
Everyone: Cure your hangovers by getting drunk again. If you don't have a hangover, get one.
Well, it is a nice sunny day and if anyone cares to join me I am off to Galbraith's for a well deserved pint of Bellringers Best Bitter or maybe a Bitter and Twisted. From this point I shall try to take my bitterness in Hop form.
That's the spirit!
I have no idea what you look like.
Old and hairy,
Will that narrow it down?

[from me, earlier]: Last election I cast a special vote. I was overseas during the election, and watched the result on the internet from Zurich. I was a little surprised at the outcome. I wonder if I will be this time?
Nope. Not really. Well... a little at how clear cut it's all turned out on the night. I expect three years of policies not too different from what we would have had under a Labour-led coalition anyway, with the perceived success of National largely determined by things outside of its control.
Key's speech.
Unsurprisingly underwhelming, uninspiring and smug. He ain't no Obama. No Obama all right. His speech wasn't even as good as some of Palin's.
Steve, you mean about the cricket, right?
...
Opener Simon Katich struck an unbeaten 92 to move Australia to 189 for two at stumps.
Nah: "Katich's departure preceded a dramatic middle-order collapse, in which the Australians lost 3-10 in 37 balls and relinquished their hard-won momentum." They ended 355 all out. They were 280 for 6 when I was watching live. I didn't watch much of the election. Too predictable. Depressingly predictable.

I'm up for a 'what I'm doing while the results come in story'
Well, watching Peters cede Tauranga, right this minute.
Also, as should be obvious, watching some cricket and drinking beer. Mostly the beer.
... see-sawing...
Stop that...

Time to drink oneself into oblivion.
Oops. I started that early then.
