  • Hard News: We can do better than this, in reply to Russell Brown,

Do you know the timing on that case? The article was on the 23rd of June, and I can't find anything post that on the Courts' website.

You'd have thought we'd be due a decision by now?

I'm wondering if Slater gave evidence that he didn't take payment for stories. If he did, he may well have Archered himself most severely.

if a large number of stunned party members began demanding a clean up of the National Party

Yes, well the smart move for Key now would be to sack Collins as a minister, deselect her as a candidate and declare a fatwa on party engagement with fringe wingnuts such as Slater.

I suspect she's already been asked to resign though, and has refused.

Gower got his Mein Kampf story on Dotcom from Slater and will hardly be in a position to refuse the much-ballyhooed pre-election hit on Dotcom should it still be on offer.

Well, I think his manager should spike all and any stories stemming from Slater and his cohorts. Really, if a story is being sourced secondhand from any blogger rather than an original source, that should be declared.

If 3 News don't do that, I think their fitness to hold a broadcasting license should come into question if a left-wing government is elected.

I'm seriously thinking about voting for Chris Finlayson in Rongotai (which would be my first vote for a Nat ever) because I think he's an asset to parliament, whilst I believe Annette King is one of that past-it right-wing clique and not an asset to either parliament or Labour.

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

I'm wondering whether if National wind up reliant on NZF for support, Peters will insist on Joyce replacing Key as his price for C&S. It's the sort of stunt he would pull, and would enable him to go out truly claiming to be "kingmaker".

Who is Robert Ridley? A corrupt cop or NZTA employee? Surely they'd use a pseudonym?

(I don't think database misuse is illegal in NZ, but it does get you fired, or at least it should).

An analogy would be the difference between breaking into someone’s house (“hacking”), and walking into someone’s house because they accidentally left the door open

Graeme will correct me if I'm wrong, but in NZ, if you intended to steal stuff (or commit any other imprisonable offence) it's burglary whether or not the door was open.

can't secure a web site, not fit for government

I heard also that John Key can't catch a ball and Don Brash's cooking leaves a lot to be desired.

Why would non-political skills be a requirement for government?
