of course if you are an owl it's too wit too woo

For us mortals, it's too wit to twit or t'weet

"but if your aim is to woo" then you might be avoiding science.

Yep,as J Cocker would say "Cunts are still running the world"

I think that it's dicks, rather, who are running the world.

  • Up Front: Feeling Like Death,

I can't say I've ever felt cemeteries so much, but in Auckland I love to wander through the Otuataua stonefields. Down south I love walking the bleak coasts.

Since it is a Friday, and we're all in need of a post-budget laugh... I present Werner Herzog reading Where's Waldo [Wally]

Not just that, his opener example as a young couple, both on $50k.

    Can that be satirised?

Unless our economy has grown at a phenomenal rate in the last 12 months - and isn't the Budget predicated on no such thing? - the median individual income from all sources is about $28k/year, and the mean is ~$36k.
The only way I can find an "average wage" that approximates $50k is if I use the mean income of persons in paid employment, which I guess is a fair enough stat to use but ignores the fact that the median for the same group is far closer to $40k than $50k.

And with the exception of Gordon Campbell, not one of our so-called "journalists" can work out that simple fact. It goes over their heads, every, single, time.

the poor response from the left.

Russel Norman and Metiria Turei have been saying good things, but they lack the delivery and ability to appeal to a facile media.

    I miss Sue Bradford.

Oh, and one last thing for tonight... there's nothing substantive in this budget to address climate change. #shortsightedbeyondbelief

    or american.

Well, the one thing that consoles me is that we're not racking up huge debts to pay for military adventures and shiny new fighter jets. Clark bought a few new expensive things, and the occupation of Afghanistan costs us something, but for the most part they keep things modest.

And does anyone know the source for Cunliffe's 5.9% inflation claim? It seems beyond belief. Usually RBNZ would be all over it, but since I'm overseas I might have missed something.

What will it take for these people to notice the invisible? A Baader-Meinhof Group?

No, because these people, the non-aspirational, are the problem. They're not getting rich and wonderful. They're not people, in the sense that media needs people it can identify with.
