I've never felt threatened by a guy asking me for coffee, or similar, unless he was also threatening in other ways (the skinhead who asked if I wanted to "go out back for a fuck" did make me a little uneasy). I have, however, done the deer-in-headlights face quite often. Usually it's when I can't quite read the guy's intentions. Does he want coffee or "coffee"? Is he aware I just started dating someone else? If it's not that it's because I really don't fancy him/ think he's the hottest thing I ever saw and I'm not sure how to say that without someone losing face.
Most of the people I've tangled with have been friends first and, at one stage, I was in danger of running out of male friends I hadn't boffed. I don't think that's so much about needing to know someone first as it is about finding the same things attractive in an intimate relationship whether the pants stay on or not.

I think I want to see When a City Falls but I think the timing and company need to be exactly right to see me through it and I'm not sure if it will (or could) come together.

Christchurch Central is tied at 100% of the vote counted. This is bad for my nerves!

The good thing about being in Christchurch Central is that you really feel your electorate vote counts for something.

Voted at Shirley Primary and it was no hassle even though my easyvote card had never arrived. It was busy but not so busy anyone had to queue. The kids came into the booths with us and are quite interested (and opinionated) in it all.
Eating a dinner made entirely of red and green foods in front of the election coverage. Anxiety levels high but I'm trying not to start drinking until after pudding.

Party vote: Green in hope that they will pull whoever is in government leftwards.
Electorate vote: Burns. Chch central was very close last go around and there's no one better who has a shit show.
Referendum: keep MMP. My first voting experience was in Ilam in 1993. 'nuff said
Referendum #2: STV I'm all about proportionality.

I think among Chch people there’s going to be a sharp division between those who remember the city pre-quakes and those who are children now and won’t. The city they grow up in will be so different to our remembered one.
I am quite curious as to what my children will remember of this time and of Christchurch before. I think my oldest is big enough (he's going to be 10 next week) to have fairly clear memories of how things were but his younger brother may not be. I'm not sure which will be easier.
