having Obama as a role model for a new generation (of people and politicians).
Ya know what, in your spirit of optimism I'll join you in that wish (and ignore the chorus of "yeah rights" emanating from various corners of my cynical consciousness)
My picks:
Obama 332 to 206
Senate: Dems get 57
Prop 8: Fail -
No. The Governor of Delaware -- currently Democrat Ruth Ann Minner, who leaves office in January because she's not allowed to stand for a third term under the state's term-limit law -- would appoint his successor.
... until the next election in two years' time. The replacement won't get to serve the full six-year term.
Huh, intriguing. Thanks guys...

Question for those of greater knowledge of the US electoral system - Biden is "also running to keep his Senate seat" according to CNN.
What happens if he wins both the VP job AND the Senate seat? Does he do both? -
I voted and the lines were five hundred miles long at 6am!
This is my only concern really - queues for hours on a workday? There'll be a bunch of people that may not vote in those circumstances and I'm uneasy as to how that may affect it.
And yes, I'm just using your "don't jinx" it stylee... =)

Oh, and not normally a huge Chris Rock fan, but had to LOL at this from the Daily Kos:

a wooden stake, it's the only way I tell you
No, that's for Bram Stoker's Dunne.
I think with Winnie it's a silver bullet. Which he'll then pull out of his own corpse and swear he's never been given silver by anyone in exchange for his death or anyone else's death and he's suing you anyway so can't talk to you...
Is that it for the formal charges now for Winston though? -
Obama's grandmother just died
SadnessSadness indeed - and just when you thought the poignancy of the whole thing couldn't possibly get any greater...

Would love to get a chance to question her on what she'd change about the National Party if she could...
Ha - just searched Facebook to see if I could find her in order to do this. FB responded with:
There are no results for national party. Did you mean Rational Pixy? Now THAT party, I'd vote for...

I've been out of Auckland for a year, so what are Aucklanders' views on this? A result of gentrification -- the Herne Bay effect -- or dissatisfaction with Tizard? Or both?
Well it's my seat and think it's probably a bit of both. I'm considering Kaye solely because for the love of Christ I want some modern views in the National caucus and perhaps she's a start. The fact she backs McCain over Obama suggests maybe she's not that modern face though!
