  • Cracker: It's urs!, in reply to Damian Christie,

    Yeah that's it exactly.

I didn't mean to imply that I am a censor in most realms; but I don't allow hardcore browsing after school. Vioence and exploitation of whatever kind are what I ban. (Though I am a hypocrite at times and the History channel always seems to be showing war docos round here.)

    Giraffe and sky

Weirdly good. Giraffes are so strokable.

For something to be "Age Appropriate" an "Adult" must approve content ....

That's a line I choose to walk as a parent. Children - and teenagers -- are not adults in smaller bodies, and not everything is healthy or beneficial for them to partake or participate in. However, I have to be convinced that something is actively detrimental to my kids' and others' wellbeing -- mentally, emotionally or physically -- before banning it. And often it is a matter of delaying rather than banning.
We also make a point of discussing with ( not talking at) the teens why something doesn't sit well with our values, and listen and take account of their viewpoints .

  • Up Front: Oh, Grow Up, in reply to Bart Janssen,

And the not bathing thing????? In summer two showers a day is required

I guess it helps if one lives in a relatively dry climate like Canterbury ... one negotiated shower-less day out of seven days makes the other six days easier to manage -- sometimes it becomes Stinky Saturday or Sunday if out-in-the-world forays are required on Friday. I must stress that this only applies to the boys, not the adults in the house!

  • Up Front: Oh, Grow Up, in reply to Danielle,

I can't handle the intermittent bathing thing AT ALL. Skipping a day is the *worst*.

Fifty shades of grey has an entirely different meaning in this house.

Cracker ! As a parent of two 15-year-old creatives it is a very timely launch. Moderating comments/posts is essential for that age group. If I can help (curating/editing/writing etc), let me know.

Can you believe that these days I get the mortality thing and the "not really a grown-up" thing? Am I weird?

Same. Pimples and wrinkles, without a gap between.
