  • OnPoint: Dear Gerry,

McFail and the not so great Gadsby

Their problem was that they satirised the politicians rather than the policies, which is ultimately just mean and pointless.

and putting "Ngatata" in quotes was stupid.

You may be right. It might be written like that to indicate the given name that a person uses if it is not their first given name, but if you feel that it should changed (to, perhaps: "Professor Sir Ralph Herberley Ngatata Love (known as Sir Ngatata)") then you can change it, if you like. :)

O, 3410? I respect your posts, but you should make it quite clear that you are *not* implicating Ralph Ngatata Love with any kind of involvement with the Southland dairy buisness 'scam': otherwise, you're coming perilously close to libel.

On the contrary. The posted info indicates that Sir Ngatata appears to be an exceedingly respectable gent.

I think, perhaps, I misunderstood Sofie's post. If so, I apologise.

Can anyone point to Telecom statements on 'net neutrality or recommended tools for testing such?

My so-called "unlimited" plan is an utter dog at the moment.

“I just worry whether this is again Wellington dictating to us through the back door.”

Is that a polite of saying "talking out of their arse"?

Eden Park is bigger than a rugby field

Perhaps as much as 8-10x bigger, including all grounds. Certainly nowhere near 121x bigger (and that's being generous - I'm sure most people would hear the phase "size of Eden Park" as describing the playing field).

  • Hard News: Transferring wealth to Wellington,

When Super City opponents repeatedly use the phrase "controlled from Wellington", for example, they're not talking about Wellingtonians, they're talking about the government.

Also, the whole Supercity debate is about local (ie Auckland) government.

To talk about "Wellington" is, for Aucklanders, to avoid the confusion between both uses of the word "government".

If anyone's still wondering whether Gerry Brownlee is an honest man...

Today he [GB] said text in a Government document on the mining proposals saying the area which would be mined equated to a postcard on Eden Park was a general comparison.

He was responding to a mathematician telling TVNZ the actual figure was 121 postcards.

"I think TVNZ may have used the size of the rugby field - I said Eden Park," Mr Brownlee told Radio New Zealand.
