Ben, I'm bored and being facetious.
Besides these types never let reality get in the way.

After re-reading my posts, I think should take more time and proof read. Or just wait until I've had my morning coffee.
I also misread your post and just listed some FFPs that they will like to have.
The no social welfare one was a nod to the fact that there is a lot of American influence on this type of religion.
So we should add 'no personal income tax' as well

I'd like such a list with reasons attached ideally.

    How about:
    - making homosexuality illegal
    - banning controception and abortions
    - teaching creation and bible studies in school
    - no social welfare

    Just to start with.

I spend a while yesterday on the Family Ingeraty web site.
Was a slow day at work.
Even read their phamlet about the dangers of the amendment. Oddly enough the more I read, the more I thought the amendment was a good idea.
They do a reasonable good job of toning down the religious nonsense. But then I looked at the feedback page where they answered questions defending their position. Then it comes out.
Their only argument is, the bible says so. (I get turned off pretty quickly with thought sort of stuff, so I only read so far).

Nothing says you have no argument like quoting scripture.

So this begs the question - exactly what are 'family friendly government policies'

I'm under the impression that it's code, like 'Family Valves'.
Basically the right wing Christian crap about being a married straight couple with children, that believes exactly the same as they do, get there moral guidiance and science education from the bible. The old testiment part to. None of this new testiment hippie tolerance and turn the other check stuff either.
They use those phrases, since they sound more positive then banning gay rights, womens rights, independant thought etc.

  • Hard News: You've gotta hand it to Steve,

I was just feeling a brief twang of nostalgia for all those long gone junk shops in Dominion Road and Kingsland that I spent too many lecture hours in when I was at Uni.

Sitting in the office working (well pretending to), does that for me anyway.

Hmmm, I sound like I'm selling palm oil. lol

  • Hard News: You've gotta hand it to Steve,

Which brings me to the sad part of the whole digital revolution...the impending death of the trawl through dirty boxes in the dark corners of a junk or opportunity shop for second hand gems.

It'll be replaced by those gems you find when you are trawling though the download site.... looking for that song..... with the line in it..... by that band called..... damn I used to know their name.
Most of the songs I've downloaded are ones I have stumbled across looking for something else.

Perhaps we shouldn't make search engines too perfect. We will miss out on stumbling across all the interesting weirdness that is the internet.

if we stop doing that then where will the next batch of fundy Christian Soldiers come from

Exactly! Who would we laugh at and feel superior to?

S'pose we've still got morning show DJs.

    Thanks Don.
So it's actually worse than I thought. I just assumed it was a number reached through a few 'logic' leaps, not just one pulled out of someone's a**.

Ok, I'm being lazy here, but I'm at work and so don't really have the time to look myself.
I saw a bit of Campbell live last night and Christen Ranken was stating a 45% increase in child abuse cases in Sweden. (Think that was what she said).
Has anyone check to see where this number come from?

  • Hard News: The Public Good,

How many of those that do illegal downloads or share with their friends, would have purchased the music if the 'free' copies were unavailable?
I know you are getting something illegally, but this thing about taking money out of the pockets of struggling artists, when they weren't going to get the money anyway, seems a bit much.

Perhaps I'm just a goodie good, that prefers the legitimacy of something earned or paid for.
