  • Polity: Too much to swallow on the TPP, in reply to Alfie,

We will, or should have, incorporated on our flag, the words...
"New Zealand inc. a member if the TPP group
part of the USA global group"

  • Polity: Too much to swallow on the TPP,

We are told, repeatedly, that the provisions for ISDS are rarely used so it is not worth thinking about...
Well, not according to this, from the
    Investment Arbitration Reporter
A list as long as your arm, as it were, of disputes ongoing...
    And this from the Economist
    Investor-state dispute settlement
    The arbitration game
Governments are souring on treaties to protect foreign investors

IF YOU wanted to convince the public that international trade agreements are a way to let multinational companies get rich at the expense of ordinary people, this is what you would do: give foreign firms a special right to apply to a secretive tribunal of highly paid corporate lawyers for compensation whenever a government passes a law to, say, discourage smoking, protect the environment or prevent a nuclear catastrophe.

  • Polity: Too much to swallow on the TPP,

    From... Sccop

“The Government will be running nation-wide roadshows for the public and business, to ensure New Zealand is ready to take advantage of new opportunities from the first day TPP enters into force”, Mr McClay says.

Can't wait, roadshow... wow. Opportunialityisms and avantagisability from day one.

  • Polity: Too much to swallow on the TPP,

Just in from NZ Transport Agency.,..

NZ Transport Agency spokeswoman Sarah Azam said road closures around Sky City, where the TPP was signed this morning, had been removed.

“Everything is back to normal,” she said. “In terms of the motorways, everything is open and flowing as you would normally expect it to be after 4pm on a Thursday.”

That's fine then, that was the main problem wasn't it?.

  • Hard News: Fix up, young men,

I think we are missing a point here. Its not that "It wasn't like that in my day" or "Its been going on forever but nobody does any thing".
I can say that as a 64 year old I grew up in times when a peadophile was regarded as "A bit funny" or the dodgy Uncle or "They are all like that in the entertainment industry".
I can look back and see things that I regarded as normal behaviour for a young man now make me feel sick. I don't ask forgiveness or understanding, that is not the point. These kids must know that this is wrong but do it out of bravado and that is most definitely, Not OK.

  • Speaker: Stand Up for Women,

So, let me get this straight. These guys don't like women, think that having sex with women is "disgusting" and affords nothing but animal satisfaction.
These guys are really damaged, they must be in total confusion about their sexuality and have little in the way of self respect.
Or is it the creeping sense of entitlement that is oozing out of the 9th floor of the "Beehive"?
Should you feel "Honoured" if the Prime Minister pulls your ponytail?
By the reaction of some in the media, you would think so.

those boys (and others like them) probably think that when push comes to shove, they got away with it…

And therein lies the danger. If the police don’t act then the blame is with them as far as I care.
They are rather busy right now though.
Protecting John Key's entitlement to rule.

Prime Minister John Key says the organisation at Te Tii Marae is “Mickey Mouse” and he wont go there tomorrow

Does he realise that “Mickey Mouse” is still under copyright?
