Note first: My discussion of this film & the links may act as triggers for people, so don;t read on, or emma edit this if you feel appropriate.
In watching a Jodie foster film on TV. I'm reminded of 'The Accused' which she won an academy award for, it's from 1998, it was really groundbreaking at the time in how it dealt with rape, but also in the relationship between 2 women from 2 very different backgrounds after the rape.
In looking up the details online i came across rogert ebert's review
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19881014/REVIEWS/810140301/1023here's his first paragraph -
The Accused" demonstrates that rape victims often are suspects in their own cases. Surely they must have been somehow to blame. How were they behaving at the time of the crime? How were they dressed? Had they been drinking? Is their personal life clean and tidy? Or are they sluts who were just asking for it? I am aware of the brutal impact of the previous sentence. But the words were carefully chosen, because sometimes they reflect the unspoken suspicions of officials in the largely male judicial system. That's 1998, and we are in 2011, and that paragraph does not sound out of date or out of time.

what I'm wondering is does destiny church do anything more or better than existing agencies?
and do they have best practices in place and accountability?

slutwalk is important for so many reasons, and i hate the word slut
But I'll be thereToday I read government is cutting funding to Women's refuges and self-defence classes for girls. I wonder what is going on in our society where this is even considered as an option.

oh i knew the aid situation was bad but not this bad. In the new way of delivering aid there seems to be two words missing - compassion and understanding.

if anyone applying for anything from winz has to declare interests in 'family trusts' and has their benefit docked according, i'm all for opening a big can of whop arse on them for everyone. Same rules all round is only fair?

if it feels like work is taking over your life, time yourself, you may find you are working longer hours than you need to.
fresh air even if life is giving you the shittiest day in the weather world, get outside even if you only walk round the house a couple of times
sometimes people's best work is created and sparked by talking to others so make sure you do that, make sure you have 'water cooler' moments as scheduled coffees.
find out ways to stay connected with the people you work with, online chat becomes your friend that way, so those questions you used to walk down to the other end of the office or over your computer to ask are easily done. Also those parts of the day where you asked people how their weekends/ projects were doing, online chat is good for that as well.

i wish TVNZ7 was more like cable and repeated shows a lot more, so that within the space of say 24 hours you have 4 or more chances to catch a show and 4 or more within the week.
the amount of times i miss a show and then have to watch 'on demand' is annoying, i like sitting in front of my telly.

yay more confusion.
I know of two delightful old ladies who signed up for a 3 year tivo contact becuase they were worried about nz going digital and missing out on the royal wedding. The oldies we don't talk about them much but all this stuff just overwhelms and freaks many of them out so any old retailer with a deal that is worded just right, well they easy pickings.
