Without the spotlights the light in there was weird – doing strange things to people.

I used my bigger top-mounted flash, and managed to get the skaters relatively sharp, while the background movement and lights made it interesting. Was very experimental, TBH. Not something I've done before. But fun.

but there was a pohutukawa starting to flower on the way in to New Plymouth this morning!
Ours is flowering too. It's probably a Kermadec Pohutakawa like ours, which flowers several times a year.

The YMCA Canteen Bus, Company C, 28th Maori Battalion, around 1943, somewhere in Europe.
It's a week for remembrance in our family, as the Tangi for one of the last remaining Officers of the Maori Battalion, and close family friend, Major John Waititi is being held in Cape runaway. As the report says, 'a great leader and a humble man'.

Speaking of minis, my first car was a 77 Mini. My hippie 'friends' once picked it up and carried it sideways into the gap between their house and the fence. I completed a perfect 100 point turn while getting it out.
Bloody hippies.
