  • Cracker: Mo' Wellington,

And Kowhai, I'm shocked you didn't vote for the Dropkicks! What happened to good old-fashioned nepotism?

    Che drank all the ale.

  • Cracker: Mo' Wellington,

Great pictures, I voted for you despite all your hating on Wellington. I love the Movember thing, it seriously tickles my sense of humor to see the range of mo's men from all walks of life can manage. For some it is strictly bumfluff, for others they can be proud that while they may be bowling ball on top they can do toilet brush on their upper lip.
While it does tickle my sense of humor none of that is going to be tickling my face, fortunately my birthday rolls around just when all this madness is finished and I am sure there will be a nice batch of freshly shaved gentlemen around town.

  • Hard News: Looking for Monsters,

I do get sick of the idea that "lifestyle" equates to running around in the bush and jumping off things: for many of us, the chance to live in a great world city isn't just a chance to save up some cash while gritting our teeth and dreaming of summers at the bach; it's an end in itself.

    Hear, hear.

  • "The Terrorism Files",

    Nice use of succedaneum.

Everyone's seeming understandably tetchy, and I'm gonna bow out for a while (cos I'm busy, and cos I've said more than my share, and cos I've drained my limited reserves of knowledge or thoughtfulness), but I'd really like to see those with the stomach and patience for it to keep up an unpleasant but possibly useful conversation.

Yeah that too. I don't need to have an opinion on everything ; )

    Peace out
    have a nice weekend
    and call your mum

  • Hard News: Spammer until proven innocent,

Best thing though is that it's open source - I can hack in anything I want - my plan is to add an 'on-hold' feature - basically it comes down to: "why should I be on hold, I have better things to do than to listen to inane music, why aren't they on hold" - my plan is to set it up so when I get put on hold drop the connection into a mode where I can hang up, the exchange plays "I really want to talk to you press '*'" over and over again and when they do my phone rings again .... honestly we all need this

    Oh dear god yes please

  • "The Terrorism Files",

    Hi

Finn, thanks for the offer of a leisurely off line conversation (if that's what we are calling it these days) it was appreciated. But I have no energy for it. Just keeping up with this monster of a thread kind of precludes involvement in other hobbies these days! Jeeze. With so many contrasting perspectives it is hard to know if there is any meaningful dialogue going on (idealistic I know, I know) around here, I could just go on a logical pick pick pick mission on parts of peoples arguments but I dont have the strengh and I am bound to get border line flamey. At least I haven't called anyone a troll or willfully ignorant today ; )

So I guess I am just going to do the tautoko thing today.

    What does this mean?

Here's a new catchy acronym for PAS: GOYFHH. (Any ideas?)

And it would be really nice if people of a more "mainstream" mentality at least recognised for a moment the pains others go through when they must communicate in a language/discourse that they don't particularly trust or are fundamentally at odds with.

I think that is a relevant point.

Well I am going to come back to this later Finn, I don't want to get all steamed up and type my thoughts in time to keep up with this rapidly growing thread. If you are still around and listening later maybe we could come back to it. Such a huge issue and I hate speaking for other people or writing as if I have privileged access to other people's intentions but I can see a whole other side to this that you don't seem to want to acknowledge in any shape or form.

I haven't had breakfast so I am going to try and breathe before I post again, maybe have a cup of tea. In brief I mostly object to you deciding that rugby is the appropriate context for a haka Finn. Some of that stuff about head touching and other peoples cultural traditions, I hear you.
