Three nearly unreadable bile-coated hairballs, from three motoring 'journalists' (one on stuff, two in the herald).
Pretty much tells me everything I need to know about who has the bad attitude, and where that comes from.

Best thing I’ve had shouted at me from a car: “DYKE!”
Best thing I’ve had thrown at me from a car: a fork. I’ve still got it.
nice of them to give you a warning before throwing things at you.
Oh, wait, you said dyke. Sorry, having a bit of trouble with your kiwi accent.

Not impressed at all with the tone of the 'stuff' coverage (what a fucking surprise).
From the 17-year-old spending his first day underground to the man who volunteered to work two hours of overtime, meet the 29 men trapped underground.
This isn't a reality game show. Show some fucking respect.

This law may be imperfect, but it still applies to cyclists.
One of the reasons that cyclists (and motorcyclists) are rather free and easy with traffic laws is because they are designed with cars, and more or less only cars, in mind.
What is sensible behaviour for a car is often bloody daft for a cyclist, or motorcyclist.
Descending a steep hill with only one hand on your brakes because you have to hold the other one out as your turn signal, for example?
Not saying cyclists should unilaterally declare themselves outside the law, but it might be nice if other road users acknowledged this and made allowances. And those making the laws and designing the roads.
In my experience, cyclists and motorcyclists tend to have an extremely acute sense of their own vulnerability when it comes to cars. Behaviour that might result in a minor fender-bender between two cars can result in serious injury or death if one of those cars is swapped for a two-wheeler.

Logically, I'm fully down with the we're all individuals and look beyond the label at the person thing.
But since the press has been full of stuff like this over the last couple of days, I'm finding it very difficult not to want to punch the self-righteous sense of unthinking entitlement out of a few drivers.

I have a question on royal protocol that my well-thumbed copy of Debretts is curiously silent on:
When reading a headline such as the following from this morning’s Herald:
’Babykins’ shows ‘Big Willy’ she’s no mug
To whom should one address the cleaning bill? The Palace, or APN?
I wasn’t aware until now that my stomach could hold that much, or project it that far.

I'm rather tickled that they will (unfortunately only temporarily) have to live in North Wales, a fate that I'd happily wish on my worst enemy.
Looks like wishes do come true after all. You only have to believe hard enough. Thanks, Tinkerbell!

One hopes that he has to emigrate across the ditch and makes a new start in Qld, where his sort of views are considered acceptable.
Not sure that they'd welcome him with open arms, though. He may not be ethnically.... pure ... enough for Queensland.
Slightly off-topic, but did anyone see that Pauline Hanson has abandoned her plans (which she originally announced in February this year) to move to the ethnically pure mother country.
Apparently, there's some people there who aren't 100% white or something.. Who knew?

“I” and “l”
Why must all the people keep on shooting and robbing? Why? Why must must all the people keep on killing and fighting? No, not I. I and I will would never try. No, not I.
I and I would never try.
But I and I survive.
