Having watched the government and opposition arguing about statisitics it doesn't seem to make much difference, just lends itself to more he said/she said ...
Mind you, perhaps if some party could gain a reputation for not doing it themselves it might help.
As for media, if you take time to call one guy out when they go gaga you have to do everyone. And the next best option is not reporting it, which isn't much of a goer either.
Still, I'm sure when Keith is made God-King we'll be able to sort something out.

Mind you, on the other team we have, as Giovanni pointed out, Phill Goff:
We have to be the party that helps those on lower incomes, and also those on middle incomes - 60-thousand, and 70-thousand, and 80-thousand dollars a year.
From the words I wouldn't have though he was referring to household incomes, but that's the only way he'd be right.

Bill English, when he cites real after tax wages (of which some of the recent boost was also due to tax cuts) in Parliament likes to say that these are the very figure Labour used to set super.
1) That doesn't make the a measure of prosperity
2) Surely that happened because Winston manged to hitch super to the most inflated measure he could. -

Power seems like a man in a hurry. Never a good thing in a politician in my book.
A good time to say I noted this previously.

FWIW John Key did congratulate Liu in the morning. Which does (admittedly in the face of some circumstantial evidence) suggest his claim about not knowing enough to talk was correct.
Which some might also consider a bit sad.

What, do you have to be actually burning a cross on a guy's lawn before someone calls something racist in this country?
A comment I saw yesterday was to the effect of, it MIGHT have been racist if he'd like, called him [a racist name].
(Interestingly the middle of the word in question was asterisk'd out, I don't know if that was TV3's site filters or the commenter not wanting to be racist.)
In retrospect a few people may have been like that. I'm putting that down to what I think they call concrete thinking.
I think on the Herald polls about 35% though his GG comments weren't racist and 35% though the punishment was too harsh. Since that's % of Herald poll voters, I choose to be pleased with that.

I'd be more likely to wear a 'what a New Zealander looks like' tshirt if it had arrows point in several directions on it.

comedy victims in the forums of Kiwiblog
I was going to say that Redbaiter was arguing alone on the latest kiwiblog thread (and even he wasn't precisely team Paul), but now I got back to check he isn't.

I did have the hazy impression that the MEAA was thinking of a closed shop.
But the 'rule one' slot in my head has been permanently occupied by "Do not act incautiously when confronting a little bald wrinkly smiling man".
