Merry Xmas, you lovely, lovely people. I hope that you get lots of food, drink, love, and joy.

Cracker: Fa la la la laaa, la la la la., in reply to
Oh, that looks so lovely, Sof. I was so thrilled when I heard that you were going to build the house because it means I GET TO COME AND STAY! But no pressure.

I love Christmas. And there’s no reason to, really. Except that I love my family dearly, and I love seeing them. There’s always good natured shouting, and disbelief that whoever you’re talking to, really has not got a handle on whatever’s being discussed.

Tim, would you email me please?

I just love that photo of Bob in the garden, David. And your description of his preference for le pipi dans le jardin had me in fits of laughter because it puts me in mind of my darling, vulgar Dad who, on a very toney trip around Europe, pissed in the Pope's Summer Palace garden. And boasted about it. How rude! I should have realised he would do that. One of my most vivid late childhood memories is of Dad and two of my brothers having pissing contests from the side of a Sth Island ravine. I mean, really!

I won't go and see the new Tron, just because I love Jeff Bridges. And. let's face it, I'm not the demographic for this sort of movie. What I did want to say is that you and Fiona have done, and are doing, an extraordinary job with your boys. I remember first meeting them, and thinking what delightfully polite and sweet young men they were, and on second meeting, having that view reinforced. To see Jim become this large man (looking scarily like his Dad) sitting down to eat with us, and Leo, sitting at his computer, surrounded by a phalanx of small and medium sized boys all in his thrall? Priceless. Whatever you are doing, you are obviously doing it well.

Re the Crown Lynn thing. (Sorry to be so insistent with this, but really? There are three reasons everyone should go. 1) It's in Wellington, and we all love Wellington 2)It's Crown Lynn which is iconic and fabulous 3) this is a part of my family heritage. This is what my father created, and built. It's his legacy, if you like. And I'm all about the legacy. ) Anyway, my sister will be talking at the exhibition on the 9 Feb at 2pm. Okay, that's my last plug. Really.

Oh, Sally - I love it. I'm not a gardener, in any sense.

Apropos of nothing - re Crown Lynn exhibition, it is NOT at Te Papa. It's at the Wellington City Gallery.

Oh, I forgot to mention re cultural events for 2011. There will be a Crown Lynn exhibition on at Te Papa. Please go. It would make me so happy. Really.
