re: LZR
Most of the men seem to be wearing, what Anthony Moss calls, pyjamas (just the shorts) -
thanks all, I was going to do a "hello world" post tonight
And my goodness, they'd have to be careful in the hurdles
... the pole vault...? (sorry)
There is a brief but drunken discussion this week in the Dropkicks podcast about skintight Olympic uniforms.
As for the pole vault:

YouTube will carry official coverage in the 77 countries (including the likes of India and South Korea) that do not have Olympic media partners. The rest of us will be blocked from seeing that in favour of our own media-partnered broadcasters.
I hate the internet locking me out of videos just because of where I am.
Did they think maybe that there is a reason someone from New Zealand would want to watch the South Korean or Indian coverage?I am really looking forward to hearing the American coverage. They don't lose so well.

It works in Firefox2.x and 3 and (__shudder__) IE.
In Firefox you could also just hit enter for most websites. That does a google search so just typing (for example) "google" will get you to google.com.

It's their classmates Finnleagh and Jorjah who will be google-stalked with ease.
Recently, when Angelina Jolie popped out her latest sprogs E News reported that before the babies names were made public the couple's lawyers had already registered the children's domain names (I assume KnoxLeon.us and VivienneMarcheline.org)

In the address bar, simply type the middle part of a web address, then press ctrl+enter.
So if you wanted to go to http://www.google.com just type in "google" and press ctrl and enter it'll do the rest for you.
Sadly it won't do .co.nz or .net

ps. Vanessa Martin is totally awesome! There is no way my partner would do that (though that's possibly because of my dodgy mechanical skills).

It is now only a short hop to cities on the moon. Thank god we are finally living in the future: "so long suckers!" Shhwwooooooossshhhhh!!!

i've seen some sad old fckers who haven't given up the dream advertising on there as well.
heh, have you (or any of the Wellingtonians [29%] who visit here) seen the guys trying to sell CDs of their band on the streets?
They are walking around with a CD Walkman, a portable EFTPOS machine, and a pile of CDs trying to get people to have a listen and then buy a copy.
I feel like telling them to try a different marketing model.

I am totally late to this but:
1. has anyone mentioned ctrl+enter when typing in urls? It adds the http://www. and the .com (should that be your destination)
2. I used to love shopping in the wee hours at Victoria Park New World. We used to dance and sing and watch the America's Cup teams doing similar things.
