I'm curious. How is this DCD contamination incident playing out in NZ? I only know what I can see online, and I'm glad to see people in the NZ Herald getting how big a scandal this is here.
Farmer Green, if you're still hanging around, I'd be particularly interested in your view of this issue.

Judging by those hats, I think some people have been taking this Hobbit thing a bit far.

surely nobody would want to go out in that!
Some of us have to, unfortunately. But I'm ok with me breathing that muck, I've sat in a plane on the tarmac and smelt coal as soon as the door was opened. No matter how bad it gets here, I've seen worse. It's the effect on the wee one's lungs that worries me.

A slice of heaven for you:
Thanks, Hebe. I'd much rather be raising my wee one there than here. Just got to finish getting that visa stuff together and hope Immigration likes what they see.

Eee that’s no life Chris!
You're right, Jos. I'm not enjoying waking up, opening Weibo, and seeing warnings from several government agencies to lock your kids and olds up at home and reading environment officials openly quoted in the newspapers as saying, "Shit's so bad it blew up our meter!", or words to that effect. I'm hoping my wife's visa comes through quickly and easily.

Baby with butterfly wings. Well, she's not really a baby any more, but toddler with butterfly wings just doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it?
She loves striking a pose, she's got it down to a fine art. Then after a few poses she runs up to the camera to see how good (or bad) a job I did. A very exacting model, she is.

It's cold enough that on other sections of the lake I've seen what certainly look like car tyre marks, but I haven't had a safe place to stop and check. But don't worry, I've spent too many winters up here to not be keeping warm.
The trees all lined up are poplars. The old ones were cut down two years back, and these are the saplings that replaced them. Give them a few years and they'll be providing nice summer shade. And considering the former corn fields to the left have been fenced off and are being planted in more poplars, it could soon become a hellish place for a couple of weeks in spring as the poplars shed their seed fluff, but a very cool place to escape the summer heat. But we plan to be back in NZ long before the trees get that mature.
