Can you believe that incredibly cute little kid from the 60s tv show The Courtship of Eddie's Father grew up to sing in that band?
Had to wiki that show. Never heard of it before.
But on the same theme, a few years ago, a really good way to wind up emo-goths was to put on your best faux-sincere face, and ask if it was really true that Kevin from 'The Wonder Years' grew up to be Marylin Manson.

Can't have your cake and eat it too
I'd agree - it is a double-edged sword.
I agree. We've no room for sword swallowers in this circus. Too many strongmen and clowns.

A shame. I was rather fond of their cover version of the Dead Kennedys 'too drunk to f***'.

I was quite underwhelmed by Moon, actually.
+1
Great soundtrack, though, courtesy of Clint Mansell (ex frontman of the Pop Will Eat Itself).
Now, that little factoid has enlivened my morning.
Goodbye city, hello moon!

Bit late with this one, but it raised a giggle. Hope it hasn't been posted already.

Exactly what I thought.

To be fair, how many interesting stories can you come up with in a galaxy-spanning post-scarcity society where death is a (reversible) lifestyle choice? It would be a nice place to live in, but hellishly dull. :)
I thought there might be the merest soupçon of a hint in 'look to windward' of a civil war brewing within the culture, which would possibly have been extremely hard to convincingly pull off, but which would have made things very interesting.

the utter, utter failure of the space race to have enabled casual space flights to the moon, let alone a manned flight to Jupiter
We're still not even close to just talking to our computers to get stuff done. Just getting them to type up what we're saying is hard enough.
Well, you science-type people had better get your acts together and deliver me my hovercycle and personal jetpack soon, or I'm going to really start getting mad.

I'll swim against the tide here, but I'm not feeling the Iain M. Banks love anymore: the last 3-4 culture books have been, by his standards, extremely poor. I personally think the rot really set in sometime around 'dead air'. Everything since (culture or not) has seemed to lack a certain spark.
Faith No More
First gig I've been to in aaaages (man I'm getting old). They rocked my world.
Reunited and it feels so good
Reunited 'cause we understood
There's one perfect fit
And, sugar, this one is it
We both are so excited 'cause we're reunited
