Don't fluorescent bulbs badly affect some autism spectrum people? I'm sure someone else here (e.g., Russell) knows more about this than I do, but that was the first thing I thought of when I heard the idea of banning incandescent bulbs.
I'm aware of that -- and of people having to avoid fluorescent lighting in offices.
But there seems to have been zero impact on our kids. Which, I hasten to add, doesn't mean that the new bulbs aren't a problem for some people on the spectrum. I just don't know of any cases.

iTunes pays out 70% of revenue per track to record companies, but its margin after costs is generally estimated at around 10%, which isn't huge -- certainly not by Apple's standards.
There's been talk lately of Apple signing artists to iTunes directly. On one hand, it's a scary sort of market dominance. On the other, it would mean a WAY better margin for the artists themselves.

Ah, but Kyle, you get to sample the whisky's progress for its entire life in the cask. That must be satisfying.
Very young good whiskies (and there are more of them about) can be fun: no complexity, but quite a bit of clarity.

Would love to see a Web-app iTunes or an alternative that offered mainstream music from an interface as good as eMusic. As a way to search, read reviews and purchase music it rocks. But no major label stuff :(
It does my head in that the majors won't put at least back-catalogue stuff on eMusic. It borders on negligence.

Phil Twyford is North Shore isn't he?
Yes, but that's one of those unwinnable seat apprenticeships.
He'll have to choose between standing in a solid seat this year (he was Clark's electorate secretary for a while) or continuing his work in Auckland Central and standing there in 2011.
-
One thing to look at is the battle for the Mt Albert candidacy. Does Phil Twyford (who has been more or less annointed by Clark in the past) go there, or continue to build a profile in Auckland Central, where he's already the buddy MP?

And, Geoff, I think she hasn't spoken up because Goff needs time to establish himself without the ex-PM popping up every five minutes to offer an opinion.
Quite. She has limited herself to her Foreign Affairs portfolio -- and when she has had cause to speak on that, she's been very sharp.

Somewhere on the internet there's Mark Harris/Robbery slash fic that someone has written, or is thinking about writing. Y'just know it.
Eeew.
But I'm told chicks dig that stuff ...

I believe Russell can testify to previous evidence of mutual good intent on that front. They're all good, even though we have faves.
Oh, I've tasted bad whisky. Readers may recall the dread 45 South.
But even that came from the plant that made the Lammerlaw single malt, whose remaining barrels were acquired by Warren Preston and are now being marketed as the not--at-all-bad Milford single malts.
I would however point out that we do have a whole post about whisky to savour today.
