  • Radiation: Lost on Internet Island,

(I'll commit comedy geek blasphemy, and say too often Monty Python failed the "very clever, so what?" test.)

Being raised on Beyond the Fringe, Monty Python always seemed instantly funny, but without lasting effect, if that makes sense.

I like my humour like my Gewurtz; Dry, with a lingering after taste.

Cougar Town shows promise. I keep trying to think of other people who could play the lead, and haven't got there yet.

  • Radiation: Lost on Internet Island,

Since we're covering TV, to be honest I found the new RadiRadiRah a bit blah de blah blah.

7days had many more laughs, and wasn't nearly as contrived. That Rhys Darby gets aboot a bit. Come to think of it, they were missing a politician tonight. Those bloody public service cuts.

  • Up Front: Feeling Like Death,

Thanks for the tips Jolisa and Islander. I keep forgetting to take the D3, but have a bottle in the cupboard, so will do so.

For what it's worth, when going through a particularly bad period of seasonal self-loathing, social networking is not always the best medicine. It also requires having tolerant friends, virtual or otherwise.

Looking forward to my next trip to the Urupa overlooking the Pacific on the East Coast. Just thinking about it brings a certain perspective.

    Well done on Metro.

  • Hard News: Chicken soup,

    That LCD Soundsystem is mean as. Over the past two days I've managed to put together 24 Free Download Tracks in a comp that includes;

    LCD Soundsystem x 2
    Unkle x 2
    The Ruby Suns x 3
    Dead Weather x 2
    Hot Chip x 2
    Simian Mobile Disco x 2
and Holy Ghost Say My Name.

Mostly from rcrdlbl.com, but Soundcloud also. There's no excuse for not having a good sampling of latest releases running through the mp3 player of your choosing.

    Hope you feel better.

From the opposite point of view, here's the Wall Street Journal Index of Economic Freedom. We do well on that list also.

  • Speaker: Seeking Better Science,

Can we have a vomitorium moratorium? It's putting me off my morning tea. Oh, that's right, I'm forgetting myself, I'll call it lunch and order some Bollinger to wash it down.

    'Waiter!'

It is complete nonsense to argue we should try and reduce tax when the evidence of the last century is that those nations that embraced the value of tax and the benefits of government spending are the nations with the best standard of living.

With the exception of Singapore? Although the compulsory savings help the equation a little bit.

Mind you, they do understand the benefit of government spending, particular as their government has the luxury of actually having money to spend.

Not at you Gio. In spite of what you might think, or my words might imply, I do empathise with your situation. I have not said, I don't think, that I support the measures this government has made in this regard, in fact in many cases the opposite. My position is that while I voted for it, this is not what I had hoped for.

If there was a way I could reverse the tax cut in order to maintain the services you and many others have lost, I would gladly do it, although I suspect Craig, and others, will think me disingenuous. Whatever.

    Wishing you well.
    Jack
