Nevertheless, I like places with literary or film associations, such as the Jack London bar in Oakland CA, for Jack did once drink there.
In 1993, at the start of our Grand Tour, we went to San Francisco, and I was pretty happy to visit the Vesuvio bar, frequented by Jack Kerouac.
There was a sign above the bar which always stuck with me;
'If you drink to forget, please pay in advance!'

Do you think? Actually, I I took that on the night I went to see Call Cutta in the New Performance Festival. Was hoping to get some other shots around the event, but other things happened.
