PS I’ve never read Rand. Everything the Libz say about her makes her sound bathit crazy.
With respect, I have read everything you have written on this forum and had previously concluded that you were a classic Randian, having read Rand’s “masterpeice” and concluded that she was a bitter and twisted woman with few clues about the nature of humanity. Your concept of ownership is identical to hers and like her you miss the subtle fact that all knowledge is built upon previous knowledge, ipso facto intellectual copyright is, in itself, theft. As Newton said “If I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” but then I suspect you would dismiss Sir Isaac as a damnable commie whose ideas should be ignored.
In the modern world power is as valuable as water, which, paradoxically is cheaper than diamonds, the cost of power is directly related to the cost of production, take profit from power and you are taking profit from the entire production of a country. The production of power is a public good and as such should not be held ransom by a profit making enterprise. Don’t get me started about water. -

‘In Brief’ column on page 3 of the Herald.
Which, in the not too distant future, will be replaced by pictures of girls in Briefs with big Tits.

a whimper don’t take much stifling :)
Not the point. What we are seeing is a concerted effort by National of attacking the opposition, a tactic often coming under the title of "Attack is the best method of defence" not, to my knowledge, a tactic used before in NZ politics by the party in power. Attacking has previously been the preserve of the Opposition and by taking that ground National has stifled any dissent, I would have thought there would be some kind of speakers ruling on this but I will not hold my breath.

the opposition is broader than Labour. thankfully.
It is, and may I say what a wonderful job National are doing as an opposition.
At every opportunity they attack Labour, thus stifling labours voice. Rather than arguing their own policy, National are opposing the people of New Zealand, they are opposing any form of public broadcasting, they are opposing any social growth with the idealogical mindset that the individual is greater than the whole, they are opposing public good over private profit. They did it before and they are doing it now.Their name, National, is a misnomer, a charade. They are for the wealthy few at the expense of the Nation. They should be called The Parasite Party, they are fleas sucking the blood of the People, the pillagers of the Nation's wealth.

Dear Steve B-
Ah, but... my reference was intended to refer to a live specimen.
The exuding of slime is a defence mechanism. When a predator tries to eat a hagfish it finds itself with a mouthful of choking slime. Not pleasant. The other interesting thing about these weird and wonderful creatures is that when they are feeding on carrion, a dead whale for instance, it will sink it's teeth into the flesh and tie itself into a knot, then it will slither trough it's own knot to gain purchase on it's meal thus tearing the flesh from the rotting carcass.
Yuk. You love the strangest things Islander.

More like one of NZs burgeoning billionaires setting one up just because they like the pulpit
They already have one, it's called the media, or what will be left of it once they have destroyed the good bits. Why bother building another bit?.

What’s new is the manipulative reality-TV element.
So, "The money, the Bag, or the mouthful of glutinous hag-fish?"
Sounds lovely. -

Minister misled public on TVNZ 7 viewer numbers! You’d think someone there could have written that story.
Can't find a direct quote though, what with Twitter treating me like a leper and snubbing my every advance.
Yes, I think someone should write a piece on a Minister of broadcasting not giving a F**K about broadcasting.
