    @Cecelia

I hate Da Vinci Code with a passion and I haven't even read it. The first SENTENCE is appalling.

    You're not alone.

    That sentence, btw, is:

Renowned curator Jacques Saunière staggered through the vaulted archway of the museum's Grand Gallery.

Why would you start a sodding novel with the word "renowned"?

    __Wait, who mentioned Kiwiblog?__

*sigh* I can't complain that someone took a shot at the open goal. :)

Craig, was that a ... sports metaphor?

Forget all this limp-wristed namby-pamby nonsense about charges and so on.

McCain Support Continues Downward Spiral: Obama Leads by 19 Among Those Who Have Already Voted

And on the 10% who are undecided voters:

Undecided voters are less educated, less affluent, and somewhat more likely to be female than the average voter. Nearly half of undecided voters (48%) say they attend religious services at least weekly, which is same as the proportion of McCain supporters. Fewer Obama supporters (31%) say they attend religious services at least once a week.

Reading Trotter's rant, I'm very glad we repealed sedition.

Sedition's for girlymen. It's treason or nothing.

Dude, don't be hating on cephalopods.

    I'd quite like that on a t-shirt.

What is the point of crossing live to a reporter standing in front of a building, telling us what might or might not be going on inside that building, when exactly the same information could have been conveyed from the studio.

Dude, you haven't been watching enough TV news. The fashion now is to cross to a reporter who's just randomly outside, in a place with no real relation to the story.

__Which couldn't be done within the Ministry of Justice like the rest of crime prevention?__

Or the Ministry of Social Development?

I guess so. Except it wasn't. Even if you don't see a need for the commission, it seems churlish to deny that it has executed an important project well.

This current campaign represents the first time a comprehensive strategy has been applied to family violence, taking in government agencies, support organisations such as Women's Refuge and the police. I'm no fan of Dunne himself, but I think credit is due to the commission.

Obama really dialled it up for his closing-the-deal speech in Ohio a few hours ago:

    That was mighty.

Depending on how the poll that counts shakes down, the Maori Party could get better results from the cross benches.

    Discuss.

Much more convincing than your insistence that the Greens might not do what they've said. You might well be right. But I don't think it would take long for the public to get tired of it ...
