  • Hard News: John Key(nesian),

Hey Russell - wasn't it a bizzare moment on Saturday night when the kick off was held up a few seconds for TV to give the go-ahead.... and the music was Business Time? Weird.

And - we were bloody lucky with the weather. Good thing I looked like a plonker in my special rain proof pants.

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

Russell, that rather good assessment is from Inky, a Kiwi.

They’ve produced so many loose forwards who are unable to make the step up.

Ouch. Duane Monkley hates you now. I can't see why the selectors won't pick Liam Messam - he seems like a real #8, unlike the one dimensional Luaki. Tuiali’i has got to be pretty unlucky not to get called up also.

Ooooh, and while I'm here, can I pimp my Dingo Deans cartoons? Ta :)

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

Don't get me wrong, I would never support another team over NZ.

TV3 sent at least two camera crews to Canterbury last week trying to find Kiwis supporitng Australia - they came up short both times.

And on Luaki - someone needs to tell the human wrecking ball he needs to start wrecking the other team...

  • Hard News: Just Some Things,

Here's some great TDF pics, big enough for desktops and that. I *bet* the racing looks cool on an HD setup.

My fav drummer is Grant Hart from Husker Du. You can't beat a singing drummer. Just look at the Eagles.

    Happy B'day Russell.

  • Speaker: Play by Discretion,

Sidebottom fully ran into Elliot - he knew what he was doing, and his claim he was 'going for the ball', gave Collingwood a great excuse to pass the buck.

Let's just move on. In comparrision to the underam, this is about as interesting as Dennis Conner walking out on Paul Holmes.

OTOH, best thing about Geoff Boycott is that he inspired a dressing room mutiny on an NZ tour, with his team sending Ian Botham out with instructions to deliberately run him out. While Boycott was captain. Now *that* is the spirit of cricket.

  • Speaker: Play by Discretion,

I'm wondering WWTAD? (What Would The Aussies Do?). Here's what I reckon by captain:

Greg Chappell - I trust this guy as far as I can throw him off a tall, tall building, so yes
    Kim Hughes - No
    Allan Border - No
    Mark Taylor - No
Steve Waugh - No, but he'd have been sorely tempted
Ricky Ponting - If playing India, yes, otherwise no

As for the Black Caps, the balcony swear-fest, while entertaining was just... not very classy.

  • Speaker: Play by Discretion,

Here's a good example of a forward / not forward pass from Andrew Merthens (I was at this game BTW, it looked OK to me. From end on).

Watch also for nasty Lawrence Dillaglio kneeing Lomu well after he touched down.

  • Hard News: Friday Fun,

Here's a French football crowd harassing a linesmen:

Can you imagine the NZFRU allowing this kind of spontaneous 'fun' at a Rugby game? Actually, they'd probably make them the Official Fun Crowd People Of The All Blacks bought to you by Powerade
