Sky, Symonds St, Mt Eden Corner. (Have I posted this already? I'm getting a bit forgetful).

I’m keen on a “markets” theme.

Good idea. Jonathan and I have started doing intrepid photographer safaris. We had planned to go to the new Silo market a couple of weeks back, but weather turned against us. Avondale is always fun. The various farmers markets around town too. Used to do Takapuna quite regularly also, but it lost some of it's appeal (i.e. the antiques weren't as good).

TW anyone who thinks LDR’s persona is contrived or silly should watch the new Madonna video. If that sounds like a punishment, it is.

My eyes! I resisted this when it came up on twitter, but then thought 'how bad could it be?' Worse.

    Sad.

    Red Riding Hood.

It would be good to let this conversation run longer or perhaps have a Part II, We need a space like this that is not so topic-specific and thus longer-lived that most threads on PA

Thanks for this Geoff. We have more plans coming up, and hopefully people will find things to latch on to. The open posts have been fun though, so need to consider topics that keep this vibe going.

Daylight Savings, for example? Things you do after work, school or in the early evening that are more common in DS times. Anyway, we’ll give it some thought.

In the mean time, seems this isn’t over yet… ;-)

    Everyone gets a pony

    Great Sofie. Thanks.

I was thinking I would do a final thank you, and Arohanui, to everyone for this fantastic thread, which has just gone on and on, and been a great place to hang out over 'summer', IMnshO. But we could also just keep it going, forevs, eh? ;-)

but basically it just seems to be another peg for the haters.

Which I probably should have left out there in the obscurity.

Jackie, I have been getting a bit hoked on Feist, and they were good at Laneway. Although the PA died in the middle of a song, and so did her mic, which left the band playing the intro for several minutes while they fixed it. She bounced back Ok.

Certainly seems to handle the live thing better than some, especially with such a quiet song as this.

What would you say 'Video Games' is derivative of?

There have been noises about this, but I can't tell really, as it was all Greek to me.

The singing starts at 41 secs.

Too early to book a seat at your 50th-birthday concert? ;-)

I wish it was, but sure.

I can't conceivably believe this is what it sounded like before mastering.

It does sound better on Later with Jools. Actually, it almost seems they put the chipmunk filter on the final version. Unless the YouTube syncing speeds it up?

Jeff Buckley’s cover is my favourite version:

    +1

I've been learning his version on guitar since his 1996 concert at the St James . 16 years! Probably have the bridge riff worked out by the time I'm fifty.

I tend to play it when I hear sad news.
