• Hard News: Recreations,

Seriously, I mean this in the nicest possible way Russell, but what the hell is wrong with you and everyone from Avatar? With baths that awesome in the hotel, who has time to think about going online? Sheesh.

The baths are scary. I didn't think I had time to run one, let alone luxuriate long enough to do it justice. (It also occurred to me that if everyone ran one at the same time the CBD would have a power failure.)

But ... exactly whose room have you been in to see the bath anyway?

if you've seen him either get in touch with his partner, the police, or someone who can contact her. if you know where he is please ask him to contact home.

Shit. I have a lot of time for Finn and from private correspondence I know some of the challenges he's faced. My thoughts and hopes are with all his friends.

What version of itunes are you on? I downloaded some live Moxy Fruvous to 7.6 on my mac on Friday and they imported fine - file > import from itunes.

On a Mac, it's easiest to just to select all the files and drag them from the Finder to the iTunes icon in the Dock. Then you can ditch the originals.

  • Hard News: Not so much ironic as outrageous,

Righto. If you read (or re-read) the post, you'll see I've removed significant parts of it, because I can see they may have breached an earlier suppression order.

This bugs me greatly, because it effectively protects Bob McCoskrie in particular from his own lack of honesty. If find his hypocrisy quite despicable.

I'll leave it up to people who have relayed Barbara Bishop's false accounts of the case which led to her jail sentence to consider what their own ethical response should be, now that the court has made its decision.

I'd be grateful if readers could avoid mentioning previous cases, even though it's not difficult to work out what they might have been.

Russell, I didn't remove that post from my blog. I changed my blog due to a stuff up. The post is here. Can you please edit your post...

    Done.

I assume you had me in mind. No I`m not quiet, you know that. I just dont break court supression on my blog, thats all. Are you aware that you are the first person to publicly break court suppression over Barbara Bishop as you have linkied the two cases together.

All the reporting up to last week's sentencing, including yours, has linked the two (three, including the allegation of assault against the daughter) cases, and I can't imagine any interested person wouldn't continue to make the link. That said, I don't want to breach an order. Can you email me to discuss it?

On the other hand, I still do not think the 'anti-smacking' legislation was the method to stop this sort of vilolence. I mean we are still seeing horrific violence towards kids from people who care little about such laws.

The law change won't halt violence against children in itself: Sue Bradford has said that repeatedly. But this actually was a case where someone successfully used a Section 59 defence.

It's actually very striking when you look back and see quite how many people were furiously rallying to Bishop's defence at the time. They're all pretty quiet now.

There's a fricken train station right across the road from Eden Park. If you think Eden Park was hard, how do you think it will be easier getting to a waterfront stadium in the city?

Let's say it's a Friday. People in the city down tools at 5pm, have a drink and a bite to eat at any number of places in the Auckland CBD, including those clustered around the new stadium. They walk to the stadum.

Afterwards, those who wish to continue their evening's entertainment walk across Quay Street to any number of clubs and bars. The others have easy access to motorways north, south and west, or take trains home from Britomart station.

Even on weekends, nobody has to pick a route through narrow suburban streets to reach the venue, and there are thousands of carparks. North Shore buses stop outside the stadium, and festive ferries carry people to and from Devonport. There's even a ferry from Half Moon Bay.

The various parties responsible are trying hard to make the Eden Park rail line work -- after Saturday night's game, there were actually trains running both ways but there was a hell of a crush. When there are three times as many people exiting a test match or a World Cup game, the crush will be a lot worse.

Fourth generation Auckland, first time caller..... I loved being able to park right where I wanted on Ponsonby and Parnell Roads in the glorious post-Xmas period. Bliss......

I've only lived here for a quarter of a century, but it seemed particularly glorious this summer. The weather was great, the nights were warm, and there was hardly anyone on the roads. You could just trundle along and get where you wanted to be, really easily.

Slarty - you were not alone, I supported it as well. Having struggled getting to/from Eden Park for the last 2 international cricket matches (and trying to get food and drink at the Twenty20), the rubbishing the proposal got still annoys me.

Me too. When people complained that the stadium would cut off the city from its waterfront, I thought ... have you seen the part of town you're talking about?

I love the way that major facilities in Wellington are in the CBD. It's worth remembering that when the Wellington stadium was proposed, there was a group of concerned citizens who insisted it should be safely out in Porirua. I suspect even they don't agree with themselves now.
