Hard News: A week being a long time in politics, in reply to
The whole thing is so complex I am in awe how John has simplified it,
Johnkey understands these things, didn't he work for one of those firms behind Enron?
Not that I’m defending asset sales, but I don’t think they are planning on actually shipping the power stations overseas.
No, just the extra profits from the “re-structured” pricing.

Seems it's not a Widows7 thing, it's a Canon thing.

Yes, that .JPG / .jpg thing is a bit annoying, Windows7 does the capital thing by default. Would it be possible to change that to accept capitalised file extensions?.

Personally I’m happy with the government selling assets – we should be flexible and be willing to sell something that we don’t need to buy something that we want. But this policy is truly awful.
It's not that they want to sell, it's what they want to sell.
Our power companies produce the power for all homes and industry, if we sell even a part of them it will increase costs across the board. A shareholder, or group of shareholders, can sue the controlling shareholder for not maximising profits, thus putting more pressure on homes and business.
Not a good idea at the best of times, right now just plain stupid. -
Hard News: The perils of political confidence, in reply to
I am afraid I have resigned myself to a further 3 yrs of a Government I neither voted for, nor have any confidence in.
The power of positive thinking is not strong in this one. :-(

Hard News: Criminalising Journalism, in reply to
If you really want to go there, three years ago was Helen Clark a fraudulent scumbag when on Election Night she not only resigned the Labour leadership but announced she would leave Parliament? Something, by the way, she’d repeatedly denied even considering during the campaign.
Craig, sometimes people can’t see past your colourful and may I say brilliant use of the English language but…
Key has already told us that he would resign if National lost the election, something I look forward to.
Clark was no scumbag, as well you know, John Key, on the other hand…
When Helen was forced to walk away, as you have to when you are voted out by the other contestant of a reality TV show, she was regarded by many as one of the greatest PMs we have had the fortune to have had. John Key will never be regarded in such high esteem and his cabinet will go down as one of the worst since Muldoon.
This latest debacle, the teapot tapes (at least they are not being compared to Watergate, yet) will go down in history as one of the low points in NZ politics. -

Black didn’t intentionally record the conversation, so subsequent use of it isn’t criminally proscribed.
It would seem this should also apply to Ambrose.
